Sterling has informed me that he plans to be down in this relative area sometime this summer, and wanted to see if a few of you Californians wanted to get together. Er wait, I mean THE FEW Californian members. Whatever.
Anyways, I figure we should just make this a West Coast meet, and see if we can get the Washington/Oregon contingents to roll down with Sterling. Pick up E on the way, Joart is close enough here and who's that guy down in San Diego?
We should do this. Photo Op!

Well because Sterling is comming down here it would most likely be here. Sorry midwestern S12-brothers, like I said, west coast, although if some of you really want to drive all that way, you'd be gladly welcomed naturallty.

Well I remembered this evening that, at least for me, it can't conflict with the WLACC GT 5 race this year which is usually the first weekend of August. I'll have to see.
I'll have to have my car running first!
Damn tho people THAT would be something! For us to show up at THAT, talk about exposure... we could have the logo decals and all... wow!!!

Yeah I consider joart a local since I can pretty much be in his area within an hour's drive.
Let's shoot for the first or second weekend of August.
I'll have exact dates.

I won't be able to come out in August, I just have a day extra (23rd) while I'll be out there from the 18-25th, if anyone is still available. I'm not sure if this was clear, if I could just stop by after work and check out your car Jason icon_biggrin.gif we didn't really need to do anything. I have only seen a turbo once and that was for like 5 minutes.

That would be fine, although it sucks that it's afflicted with BHG right now.

There is a freshalloy.com sponsored 240sx meet on saturday
I e-mailed Dan saying that I'm interested in planning an SF Bay Area meet. I noticed that you guys tried before. Did anything ever happen? Sure I'm relatively new here, and I'm probably posting at the wrong time considering that Christmas is around the corner, but I'd like to see this topic come alive again at least at the begin of next year =) In case we need it, I have an extended Chevy Astro van, a car trailer, and lots of motivation. I'll be more than happy to plan and contribute to a meet with the above resources. If all works out, we could get a barbecue going, some music from my van, videos of whatever (I can fit a large TV in that van and power it with a heavy duty inverter or generator if someone has one, or if I get one). Some ideas may be member AutoX runs, track days, drift video incl. Initial D hehe. Do I sound like I'm in above my head here? I hope not. I want input from all of you too =)

Bart...
That would give me some time to get my van tuned up and my S12 done as well. Plus, I'd love to get your suspension setup going Bart. I need it badly for AutoX. Radracer PMed me and if there's enough people to put something small together then maybe I'll plan something more low key soon and a larger meet for the summer. Summer makes sense though because rain on a barbecue and TV would not be good things. Between now and the summer, I'd encourage you guys to make some AutoX videos for us to watch and enjoy since watching Initial D for the greater part of a day might get old (I know it would for me). If any of you in the bay need help getting in the AutoX scene then e-mail me -- [email removed] -- I'm going to try my best and get some videos of myself too. I'll keep you guys posted.

alright then for the big meet, how about the middle of june? is there anyone that's up for a meet in the sf bay area that wouldn't be able to make it then?
EDIT: I was thinking about designing the meet around an AutoX event. Ideally, one of the weekend events that goes for Saturday and Sunday. The entry fee is $30 per day I believe. We could all find a cheap motel near the AutoX and arrive the day before the AutoX.
Here's an example schedule:
Friday: chill, eat hang out, sleep at motel
Saturday: go to autox, race, watch other runs, hang out, sleep at motel
Sunday: go to autox, race, watch other runs, hang out, go home
Depending on the number of people who are interested, I'd be more than happy to take a banquet table in my van so that we can have some good grub at the AutoX. If any of you guys have folding chairs and a (somewhat) portable gas barbeque, then that would be great. However, you probably want to be within a 50-mile radius for me to pick them up or for you to drop it off at my place before the meet. Either that, or have a truck + car trailer for your S12 so that you can bring your stuff and still bring your ride. Camcorders and digital cameras are a great thing to bring as well, since you can have a passenger videotape your AutoX run. We can get pics of every member ride with digital camera(s). Unfortunately, I don't have either at this time.
This is all very tentative. I need input from everyone as to who actually wants to autocross and who wants to do other stuff. We could always schedule a track day, but that would be expensive and probably a little more hectic. Plus, people with the CA20E (like me) might be kind of embarassed with our 100hp cars. We could also just hang out and not do either track or autox -- I'm not ruling anything out yet.
I may be getting ahead of myself here, but if we autox then a Snell '95 certified helmet would be necessary for your autocross run. Sure, members could share helmets but it would get annoying if less then half of us had helmets and we kept running around borrowing them from each other. If you're interested in autox but don't have a helmet, then please let me know.

I started a new thread dedicated to the December West Coast Meet which will be held on either Saturday, December 20th or Sunday, December 21st. If you live nearby and are up for something low-key (hanging out and grabbing something to eat) then refer to the thread below. Otherwise, stay in here for the big meet which will probably happen during summer 2004.
