Does anyone have idea's of getting cupholders in our little cars? i'm wondering if there are any pull out ones i could maybe stick into the void left from the tape deck?

I've actually been mulling this over for a while. I don't know what you have, but I have the '87 with 5-spd, so putting it anywhere in front of the shifter wouldn't work. The only things I've been able to think of are:

1. Sticking something in the glove box
2. Sitting something on the passenger seat
3. Hanging something off the driver or passenger door
4. Sitting something on the floor in the back seat

With the way I drive and how I have my seats set, the floor of the back seat would probably work best for me. I have my passenger seat all the way up so I can rest my arm on it, so there's lots of room back there. I'll probably just buy something and sit it on the floor back there.

i don't drink a lot in the car so i got a pair of those cheapo cup holders that slide down the inside of the window and hang off the door. they work pretty good for $3. not attractive tho. but you can take em out when you're not using them.

i just open the small console that site right behind the e brake and place my cup there

I wedge a drink between the handbrake lever and the passenger seat. Works great and by moving the passenger seat forward or back I can adjust for different size cups.

i like the idea of the drivers door... would be ok. the little console is also a pretty sweet idea, i'd have to clear it out and put shit in the glove box but no biggy. Although when you open the thing that we'rd plastic track pops out to... might get in the way but shouldnt be a problem. And yeah i never even thought about the shifter screwing a cup holder in the front. anyhow thx finaly icon_biggrin.gif

Watch out with those ones that slip down the window channel. It's a little to easy to forget about it, put the window down, and wham your drink is all over the place.

i put it in the middle console thing too.....works great, esp for supersize mcdonalds pop icon_smile.gif

anything on the door is a bad idea, garaunteed that one day you wont think and leave a full drink in it, get out of the car and slam your door shut.......that drink is now on your seat, floor, door, window and who knows what else.

in my stealth, i have a 99 cent "octopus." It's basically a high surface area cup holder with plastic springs which hold any cup size. it just sits on the floor next to your feet. There's more leg room in the stealth though, and I don't know if there's enough in our s12s. The octopus actually stays on the ground quite well, but i just remember to leave my hands on it when I slam on the brakes. they also have things out there similar to the octupus, which have mroe weight and less surface area. those work better, but cost more than 99 cents. food for thought.

interesting riyanm... while the console is working great for me right now, they also have ones that clip onto your vents, anyone tried these? success? i cant see them holding much weight...

yeah tell me about it. I've got all my originals except the one closest to the driver's door, I'm on the third one in that slot and the one in there now is missing half the slats and is cracked in the middle.

i wouldn't go for the vent ones either. as has been mentioned the vents are pretty brittle. i don't think i've seen any s-12 with 4 fully working vents (mine included). if someone could fab one up i still don't see a good place to put it. beside the handbrake would be the best, but that's still awkward...

DIRTIE_SASKIEDec 3, 2003, 1:55 pm · #20

all of my vents are in perfect working order!!! haha lucky me.
