I live in Adelaide Australia, and the wildest conversion i have ever seen into an S12 is a 1JZ GTTE, a supra hiding in sheeps clothing

In Adelaide, the Gazelle was a model that didnt make it big, and was rated as one of the worst handling/looking cars of its time compared with other super sedans @ the time. it is also a car that no-one will look twice @!

The car was rusty, and was the biggest boonga in the world, u just didnt want 2 pull up next 2 it next 2 the lights

It went 2 the Drags and pulled a 11 second pass with stock everything

It was 4 sale awhile ago, the starting price was $11,000AUS
It eventually sold 4 $2500AUS

I was spewing!, i had just done a SR20DET conversion, and couldnt afford it

Nope, no pics of the car, just imagine a red hatchback with abit of rust
a big white TRD sticker across the front windscreen and a picture of drifto on the left back quarter window and alloys painted black, oh and a bit of the japanese spec hornet bonnet scoop. the only thing giving it away was a Supra RZ intercooler hanging from under the bumper

so this is a 200sx/gazelle/silvia. with a 1jz, then that means a inline six like a rb20det(even a rb26dett) could fit in the s12! sweet. icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif

Even though I applaud the work, it's kind of backwards. A 1JZ swap would have been better for a MKII Supra. The MKII Supra has the same styling, weight and suspension as the S12, and then it will be a Toyota engine in a Toyota car. There's no reason at all to put a 1JZ in an S12 when Nissan makes the equivalent RB25DET.

In australia the RB20 into the S13 is very common now and seeing as getting a SR into the S12 isnt hard I dont see why the RB couldnt fit nicely.

In Adelaide, the Gazelle was a model that didnt make it big, and was rated as one of the worst handling/looking cars of its time compared with other super sedans @ the time. it is also a car that no-one will look twice @!

Ill agree with the part that no1 looks twice at it but it being a car that handles badly is going a bit overboard. I owned a RX7 S4 and they handle nicely and I can say stock for stock the S12 isnt that far off the Rx7. Around the track in my stock S12 it handled very nicely neutral in and a bit of oversteer out of the corners. Imo the S12 has more potential than people give it which is why i cant wait to blow all these S13-15 and skylines away icon_twisted.gif icon_biggrin.gif

I know every one luvs the RB and I think its a good engine too but its not god. Most of the get up the the GTR is the 4WD. There is usually a seconds difference, if not more between the same car in 4WD and 2WD. So if you break it down and we are taking about a stock car w/ a stock engine. An S12 w/ an RB26DETT would run 13.0-14.0 and this guy w/ a 1JZ was running 11.0-12.0. I actually like to see brand mixing. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to run a toyota engine in a nissan chassis. Toyota makes GREAT engines! but you know they aren't always the best at chassis'. The supra has always been plagued by weight. The damn thing runs 24lb 16" wheels! and last I heard the MKIII weighed close to 3200lbs. The MKII and S12 do NOT weigh the same and the suspensions are not that alike. The MKI & MKII supras were noted as some of the worst handling toyotasfor their time. This was the reason most people started to focus their attention on the celica.

All that said I'd like to see one in a Z or ZX. icon_biggrin.gif
