I don't know if the linked worked. If not I'll try to fix it.

It's a CA20 that seems to be able to run 7psi all day long. I got full spherical bearing suspension and 350lb spings, that are way to stiff for where I live. The black things under th rockers are the roll-bar out riggers that goe to the subframe connectors. I'll try and post more pics in the future.
"The Ghost Car" It got that name cause I talked about it alot, and my co-workers seldom saw it.

not half wrong about the paint job!

But your lucky if you can get a CA20 running 7psi and not throwing a rod!

GL with the rest of the project!

EternalSwapOct 1, 2007, 1:26 am · #3

Shit, that looks sweet. The flares look factory!

NemisisOct 1, 2007, 2:10 am · #4

Yes, please- More info on the flares.

CA20e with any forced induction is just a time bomb.

I can see it now:

"Dude, lets kick it up to 10psi! she should really scream then!"

Vrooooooooo-BANG!

Sorry, but its true, the stock CA20E rods are frail, and the 18ET's aren't that much better.

Your notch looks awesome though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)
lvDaveOct 1, 2007, 2:29 am · #6

It can handle stock boost though, right? I'm not looking for a really fast car just a little boost to help keep up with traffic.

JonBOct 1, 2007, 4:00 am · #7

The flares are steel. An insane amount of time, money, and labor in that eye-sore, for now anyway. The CA20 has a 9psi spike. It seems the only way I can solve it is make a header with an external wastgate; I think. Passing on the highway is when it will go to 9 and tapper back down. It could also not be the best choice in turbos, 94' 300ZX' T25 I think. But yea 7psi so far so good. Still want a 4-valve though; looking at options. Slightly faster than a 2.5 24V ford Contour though. Thats a 170hp car. Got my sights set on 185hp 2.5 BMW 3 series. Anybody know af a dyno in south-west PA?

lvDaveOct 1, 2007, 5:01 am · #8

You could see about porting the wastegate. That should take care of the boost spike. Beating a Counter in a ca20 s12 is pretty impressive. My sister has a v6 Contour. Aside from it's jelly bean styling and cheap interior, I actually really like that car.

PremoOct 1, 2007, 6:36 am · #9

shit dude, throw some bloody paint on that thing!! im not normally one for notches but that would be hot w/some new paint

asparagusOct 1, 2007, 6:38 am · #10

Very nice looking flares!! I hope you fill up the whole thing with a proper wheel size (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

JonBOct 1, 2007, 7:10 am · #11

I think its the tires more than anything. 205/55. I didn't want a new import-tuner look, more of a vintage road-racer thing. I had the tires from the stock wheels and am just using them up. There's an e-mailing campaign the some SCCA guys are doing to get 245/45 15s made. Those are 15x8.5 TTD rims on mine. The whole track is somthing like 8" more than stock.

The only problem is that its Kia platinum grey; I told the paint guy to hit the same grey as the rims. Now I can't get the Kia smell off my hands.

JonBMay 9, 2008, 11:38 pm · #22

Wel'p the folks at G-pop say -.015 is OK and my deepest grove is -.010 so it's off to the machine shop on Monday I think.

JonBMay 13, 2008, 11:48 pm · #23

I dropped the main shaft of my turbo off on Sat, to be cut down at the machine shop, it's Tue. And I'm still waiting on that. This is why I love old cars, and somewhat know what I'm doing. I knocked the bad turbo down to $175 and 3+WEEKS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pinch2.gif) , vs $690 and 3 or so days (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) .

JonBMay 23, 2008, 1:57 am · #24

OK it took near a full week to get the shaft back. I got it on Friday, but picked it up too late to call for the bearings. Ordered them on Monday, they came today. I just got the turbo back together. Man I hope it's right. The shaft has no play and it's a little tight but I'm fairly sure it's cause of the assembly lube, that stuffs pretty thick.

(IMG:http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd41/NBF823/0522082130.jpg)

That's it there on the right, next to the original CA18et turbo.

JonBMay 25, 2008, 12:41 am · #25

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It's running. Alomost 1 month, $220 and a small case of Pepsi. I hope it lasts. Runs pretty much the same as it did before. There was no apperent loss of performance in the turbo up untill the point the wheel touches the housing.

I'll be driving to work on Tuesday! Yea! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Nissan's doin' good on DD.

Project updates;

First I'm cleaning the garage. I need the space and it's to the point where it's screwing with my state of mind. So if anything breaks on the Nissan I'm screwed, I don't have the spare parts selection I once had.

Schwinn;
New small side project, Schwinn. Yes. I'm building a bicycle. Proposed mods include 7 speed with old-school gear shifter, and F&R hand brakes, speedo, and maybee color change with seat and grips, and seat absorber if the following isn't possible; Possibly a 21 speed and a trailing arm rear suspension if it doesn't detract fron the original Schwinn Stingray frame. Cost ceiling is $250 suspected and $500 max.

I have a Mongoose 21-speed fully suspended mountain bike(paid for years ago so I'm not counting it in build cost) that's going to be parted for the project. And I got my target schwinn for $100;

(IMG:http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd41/NBF823/0528081635.jpg)

That leaves me with $150 for the bicycle mods.

TransAm;
This one's gonna be a few years.
Lookin' like I'm getting a second 400 block for this(I'll know monday). So I can keep the original and have fun with the new one with out fear. I intend to boost it, with iron D-port heads. I don't know what size turbo, nor if there's going to be one or two yet. I figure I can make well over 500hp and probably still pass emissions. Vs a Eldelbrock head swap wich will cost roughly $3500 all together with intake carb and headers, and max out my 400 a little over 500hp and not stand a chance on the Pennsy sniffer.

some things to figure are;
Turbo choices, one or two; which ones.
How much power can I make with a 800cfm quadrajet blow-through(may need a bigger carb)
What deisel truck to steal my intercooler from.
Cam choice.
What's to high of a static compression ratio for a turbo with an iron head.
How much boost can I run with 8:1cr and 93oct gas. 7.6cr is easy to get to.
What affordable pistons, rods, and harmonic balancer to go with.
And others I just cant think of right now.

The safe hp ceiling on a PMD is about 650hp. A few guys are running upwards of 1000hp on stock blocks and getting away with it. I'm not goining to be worried if it's not my stock block, and it's not my DD, so; healthy boost numbers, 416 cu in, 6000 redline and really bad MPG. Sucks gas and kicks ass, Roar!

Thanks!
But truth be told I envy those guys with the JDM mills. A sexy fat head CA18DET, A straight port SR20, Particularly the FJ guys... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/worship.gif) Someday for me, I hope.

Oh yeah, the overseas ones are badass as hell, but what you've got there is really quite something.

If you get a chance sometime, can you take a variety of shots of your cage? I would like to know where your pickup points are at, the general layout, etc, b/c I plan on doing some cage work eventually (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I wrote a response-but it didn't work. I'll get some stuff up about it soon.
200sxkitcarSep 16, 2008, 12:59 am · #34

ah, no worries, when you get the chance, throw it up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

anytime I write a decent size post, i highlight the entire text/pics (ctrl+a) and then copy it, click the 'add reply' button, and that way if it doesn't work then you still have the info saved, you can just try it again. If it accidently posts twice, I usually just then delete the content of the one posting and just write 'double post.' Used to happen on some regularity with a not-so-good connection.

Glad to hear you got things up and running again mang.

Sorry I didn't get to pics of my roll-bar yet-200sxkitcar.

Shit has been going really crappy for me. I'm really worried. I had a fight with a freind. Who I just did a title transfer with. I got my plate back. Just gotta turn in the plate and I can take it off my insurance. A bad fight to. Broke my fist type of bad fight. I already got screwed there.

Have to see it next to my other hand, I guess. After I let him go, he took a swing at me and knocked my glasses off. I gaind advantage and he curled up. I broke my hand on his retarded thick skull.

I got some pix of the RX7. Man I hope this dude don't screw me over this thing. I seem to be real stupid for freindship after loosing my GF. This car is at his dad's house, we agreed not to mess with it till spring. Oh Fuckin' well.

(IMG:http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd41/NBF823/1217081631.jpg)

Some of you may also know a snow-plow took off my rear veiw mirror and didn't turn it in. I got fuckin' screwed there too. Merry Fucking Christmas!

Shit's gotta get better some time I hope. I should go get some fuckin' pills from a doctor or some shit.

I got more pics of the rex, but I gotta pay cause they're from my phone. And the pic of my hand was to big so I deleted it from this post.

Kinda rough tryin to relax lately. I feel like I'm gonna be made out to be the bad guy with that fight. I've won some of my fights, I've never won a crowd. Just worried ya know.

RX7. I don't know what I'm gonna do with it for sure. I know I'm not gonna yank the motor till spring. But if it'll go in the 200?; I don't know for sure. If it does it won't be for a good while, two years I figure. I just got to much on the table with my Firebird and other stuff. And I gotta keep the 200 going down the road. I'd like it in the 200, I'm sure I could pull it off. But I just can't buy another car so the 13B/200SX idea will have to wait till my 'bird can get me to work.
