I know I love mk1 hatches, always will. Something with the 6pack tails. The notch will be nice to have a trunk so I can have shit in there and no one can look in. If the notch wasn't a sra model I wouldn't event think about gettin it. Its still gonna be a s12 and it will look clean still with all my stuff swapped over. I'm still keeping the hatch so its not completely disappearing!

silvia loveOct 1, 2011, 5:04 pm · #2

I got the notch at my house. Smogged it today and it passed with flying colors! It is a tad rougher than I thought, but nothing I can't fix. I'll get some pics up of it later. Gonna yank out the ca20e today and start prepping it for the ka24e.
once I get the 20e out I'm gonna set it up on stands in the garage and then start tearing down the hatch. I'll get the hatch back together first to have one running car. I think at this point I might just rattle can the notch cuz it needs basically a new front end. I'm gonna swap over my hatches fenders, doors, hood and front bumper. So I'll just rattle can the rear of the notch. I wanted to get it resprayed the factory gunmetal but that will cost some dough. I'll get pics up later for your viewing enjoyment.

silvia loveMar 8, 2012, 11:07 pm · #7

for shits and giggles....how much do you think i could sell my s12 for? think i could get 3k?

ArroMar 13, 2012, 1:17 pm · #8

Up in the Bay area? Maybe an 8-6 kid might go for that. You know I went through a phase where I thought these cars weren't worth shit monetarily, then I went through a phase where I thought maybe they were starting to be worth more due to awareness of older RWD desirability... but honestly now, with the uncertain state of the economy, and with the advances we've made on here with these cars, I have no fucking clue. One guy could hand you 3 grand, and the next guy could tell you to take a hike.

I do think the car is really sharp looking currently and as a swapped KA S12 it's already more valuable from a tuner point of view.

silvia loveMar 16, 2012, 10:44 pm · #9

thanks for input. i got into a convo with a buddy about our cars, he was jokin that he could sell his high mile stock  s13 for more than my car as it stands now. i sure hope thats not true lol

hit 6k on the odo since rebuild, no major problems.

installed some h4 conversion hids, cheapo chinese kit. 6000k
real nice, way brighter than sealed housings.

pulled the trans out to fix a leak from the front cover. replaced the gasket and seal. had counter shaft bearing failure, so i split the trans and replaced one of the bearings. then changed out the rear tailshaft seal and called it a day. nice and quiet now with no leaks.

changed the oil and flushed the coolant. thermostat went bad, replaced and running cool now.

ArroMar 17, 2012, 12:37 pm · #10

Is his S13 an E or DE? I could see a DE sell for more but an E.... probably not.

Post Merge: 12:39:14 PM / 17-Mar-12
Regardless... your car is nearly beautiful and I say nearly only because of the lip sag which I know you'll fix. I say keep it!
silvia loveMar 17, 2012, 4:58 pm · #11

his s13 is a 24e.

i already fixed the lip once before but lost the supports from scrubbing pulling out of my driveway. i need to figure out a better solution for the supports.

Ju_S12_TurboMar 18, 2012, 1:59 am · #12

You coming this wed? you better pre reg! if you come down early we can mount up some spares

silvia loveMar 18, 2012, 1:23 pm · #13

i might skip this weds. and try for the following week. im gonna order up parking brake cables from rock auto.
i just started a new job, but i do have wednesdays off. how early do i have to show up to mount tires? you still want those z32 tt wheels? i know i gave you a price but i also would be interested in trading for 4 luggers if you got any? gotta get my spare r200 welded aswell, do you know of anyone in the bay that can do that for me? does blu808 still weld diffs?
oh and for all the non-believers about how nice the rattle can paint turned out, ju_s12 can verify as he seen it in person!

BattleFairyMar 18, 2012, 4:00 pm · #14

shit

sanding gonna take forever or?

silvia loveMar 18, 2012, 4:41 pm · #15

sanding takes forever no matter what your painting. its all in the prep. a good paint job is 90% prep and 10%paint. of course if you have an air compressor and proper tools it cuts time down drastically.

picking up a corbeau forza fixed position seat tomorrow for uber cheap.

also pre-registered for april 4th drifting at sonoma!

silvia loveMar 25, 2012, 2:35 pm · #17

installed the seat, sits a little higher than factory. i'll try to get it lower later on, but for now its fine. also redid my exhaust, its not as obnoxious now. ordered parking brake cable from rockauto.com, they got killer prices. now i just need to get my spare r200 welded up. im also looking into getting some ford e350 rear shocks, the foxbody's arent dampened enough, the rears a little bouncy. got 6 spare tires this last week from work to burn off at sonoma drift.

transmission isnt leaking anymore, thank god! now my r180 is though lol.

Negative ghost rider, I think there is about 4-8 floating around, I know of 4 including 2 LS1's (One was in a tube chassis drag car other was a drift car that used most of the S13 swap stuff). First 1UZ I believe.

since i have decided to attempt to have this swap certified in california, i need to run the oem catalytic converters. the fitment of the cats was so tight i needed to re-route my fuel lines. i decided to mount the filter under the car and have the feed/return lines come above the transmission up the firewall.

next order of business was to mount the auto shifter. i welded in a plate where the shifter was normally, then mounted the auto shifter in. i still need to move the stock handbrake over a tad, as it hits the shifter currently.

once i knew the engine wasnt coming out again i welded the radiator support back in.

then the wiring. ecu is wired up to where it works as if it was in the lexus, everything is functional. made a harness using all the plugs sourced from the lexus. for me it was just as easy as wiring my ka.

then the gauge cluster....i had to fit it into the s12 dash. the ls400 gauge cluster is significantly larger than the s12 analog cluster. lots of cutting of the dash and trimming the cluster a tad to get it to fit. but it does fit! not perfect but enough for me to be happy.

the 1uz uses a auto-tensioner for the drivebelt, which tensions one giant belt for all the accessories. i am not running air conditioning or power steering....so i needed to make a solution. i was going to make an adjustable idler pulley where the power steering pump would be but came up with just swinging the alternator out on a bracket. perfect. im running a 5rib belt for now until i can find the correct 6rib size.

all that led to the startup! still need my driveshaft, but that is all i need. then it is off to the dreaded cali referee station. i got more pictures, i'll try to get them up soon.

has to be all original out of the donor car in order to be Cali legal. Since ls400's didnt come manual, he had to put an auto to get it to pass inspection. Gay californistan law

I am really glade I never made that move to california, but grats on the 1uz install.

silvia loveMay 16, 2013, 12:14 pm · #42

Yeah after inspection I will be running the ka trans until it blows then I will upgrade to z33 6 speed

Be happy you can even do an engine swap. In Belgium you can't change anything, your car has te be 99% complete stock (apart from an air filter).  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Even my CA18ET > CA18DET swap will be tricky to get past inspection. Let's hope they won't notice as  they don't see these cars often :P Also you have to pass inspection every single year, so if you modify something you have to undo it every year to go to inspection.

Nice build and your speedometer fits good :)
