Seriously.
These engines are extremely boost friendly.
Light weight.
They are cheap.
Rebuilds are cheap.
Turbo stuffs is cheap.
Trannies have titanium gearing.
More horsepower than Ca18de :X
B8T you can buy from factory for under a grand.
I can already hear it "Why not just buy a miata", the answer is simple. They are not ugly enough.

i was talking about that with my teacher. the first gen maitas don't have alot of power max at least 140 - 160hp.
why not just go SR20VE and cut a hole in the fire wall for the dist like the toyota guys do for the AE86 to fit the 4AGE from the AE111 or AE101

Because I would rather pay 900 bucks for a B8T, Factory turbo. USDM. Cheap parts. Availability.
and I cant find the damn engine weights but its a 1.8L all aluminum. So its gonna be lighter than a CA too.
lol CA20 has 100 hp from factory.
People have gotten 200hp with bolt ons... many times.
Cant do that with a KA. lol
I have thought MANY times about a NA 13B.
MANNNNY times. In fact I almost bought a beater Rx7 that came with 3 long blocks and a spare tranny for this reason.

DUDE not raggin on ya or anything, i thought it was funny that you said it came with 3 long blocks...i dont even know what to begin to call a bare rotary engine...a long spinning triangle case??? lol

....seriously your comparing a turbo motor to a na motor. if you put the same type of bolt ons and turbo on the ka as you would on the mazda motor the ka will make over 200hp.
KA24DE specs: The 1991-1994 240sx have the KA24DE, Dual Over Head Cams (DOHC), which have 155 @ 5,600 r.p.m., 160 @ 4,400 r.p.m.
Getting to 200 and beyond with a turbo and boltons isnt hard on a dohc ka

Why are you asking questions? If you're so oppinionated, just go do it.
I pulled an 1.8l out of a 94 miata and its not all aluminum?
? Then I shouldnt rely on miata forums, a google search pulled it up.
But no, I was talking about N/a. Not turbo. If I was going to build a turbo motor it would be a KA.
lol To me, rotary long blocks are spinning triangle cases and w/ spinning triangle, both manifolds and accessories.
Is the head steel?

the last thing you need to do is dive head first into the rotary world, buy junk 13b's and swapping them into your s12.
own a rotary powered car and LEARN the motor/drivetrain and electronics. otherwise your gonna spend alot of money for nothing.
NEVER use a rotary that is considered junk...always rebuild. i had two FC's..i loved them...on was an S5 NA and the other was an S4 turbo II. but i had to learn ALOT
no offense

ca20...200hp w/ bolt ons? id rethink that statement. with a safc, a little port&polish, cold air intake, cam swap, header, exhaust, pulleys, light flywheel and some timing adjustments the ka will reach the 200hp mark.

dude, you must be high. Miata motors have cast iron blocks. Not that boost friendly. Tranny's blow goat balls. They break when you stare at them hard. They aren't pieces of shit by any means, but there are alot better swaps you can do.
Yep I am 100% wrong, the third gen miatas have all aluminum.
lol Fuck it I will just buy a miata.
i was wondering where your info came from, first gen miatas came wih 1.6l motors and made about the same power as our ca20e. 94-98 miatas had 1.8l motors with sleightly more power and a little better torque. 99s had 2.0l and are good motors, but none of these hold much boost. good motors, but not powerhouses by any stretch of the imagination. mazda is known for handling, not power. if looking for a motor swap, id look to a different manufacturer!
don't forget madza is also known for their rotarys. drop a 18det and call it a day. or if you really wanna try something that hasn't been done drop a f22c or a f20c from a s2k into the S12. I'm actually considering the swap. it would have everything i ever wanted from a motor, and then later on down the road i could go ITB on the bitch.

FUNNY YOU SAY THAT...if you didnt catch the super street from a few months ago the SEARS yes SEARS s13 coupe has an s2k motor in it...its complete blasphemy...but what can i say...that engine is pretty sweet
Mazda's B engine.. Ah yes.
In turbocharged from (from familia) it came with both oil squirters and a forged crank. The displacement ranged from 1.1 to 1.8 litres. Our early 90's ford escorts and protege gt's were equipped with the non-turbo variant 1.8L (BP).. Whereas japan got the full honour of the BP-T.. Mind you, these are FF configed engines which would require coolant re-routing and possibly a distributor swap of some kind.
Good engines, fairly good aftermarket (corksport).. Not my first choice though (F20B!!).
As for the transmission argument, the miata is a HUGE contender in many autocross events and if you were serious enough I bet a few minutes spent on google would yield a bellhousing adapter for a T5 transmission or something of the like.. Dont let that hold you back. ( one of my favorite transmission swap reads ever http://1800philes.com/t5.html ).
If you are thinking of doing this to be different, then like henry said - just do it.. Otherwise there are better choice out there which emanate from nissan roots.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) i never thought someone would ever do that. i wouldn't really do it for the "different factor" more like the power factor.
There's more than a couple s13's with an f20c, just about everything old and RWD has had an f20c. It's super common in classic toyotas
My car just prior to my Evo, I had a 2004 Mazda Speed MX-5 .. I modified the car a little though I could not keep it because I always felt cramped in it.
Before(except the Koyo) and after shots of the engine bay.

These BP8 engines have excellent boost response when tuned properly.. If your considering NA tuning I suggest you keep the engine in a Miata.
Wow... Like blue? I much prefer that engine bay in stock trim.

I was quickly burnt out on the red because when your on a Mazdaspeed forum and EVERYONE has the same looking engine bay .. you beg to be different.
