I can't find any of the pages that have people that broke them, but the gears are physically more narrow than the 5-speed gearboxes. It's because the 6-speed box is actually a 5-speed box with an extra gear squeezed in.

RAW0330 Sorry, I meant the gear ratios between the s15 6-spd and the ka- or s13 or 14 5spd
they are a quicker/closer ratio, but stil wind up using the same final drive, so you dont need to change rear gears.
seishuku I can't find any of the pages that have people that broke them, but the gears are physically more narrow than the 5-speed gearboxes. It's because the 6-speed box is actually a 5-speed box with an extra gear squeezed in.
nope, they are completely different transmissions.
If you say so... Either way the gears aren't as wide, therefore, can't hold as much power.
dont just say so, i know.
s13 ka trans is the long one, same as s13 sr, and s13 ca, aside from bellhousing. notice the bellhousin, tail shaft, and thin center piece that holds the gear set.
now here is s15 trans, notice bellhousing, tailshaft, and center case
Whatever, the design is the same base, regardless of outside appearance.
And that still doesn't change the fact that the gears are smaller!
And with a s15 there is know speed sensor in the 6 speed tranny, it is in the diff
there is a spot there, its just not punched out.
the nismo version (which they sold as an upgrade for s13/14) has the hole opened up so you just pop it in.
im pretty sure you can get the tailhousing, drive gear etc, but it would probably be expensive.
