I went to silverdale yesterday and got this off of a guy from craigslits. He told me he bought it from someone else on craigslist as a packaged deal with another bike that was a trek discovery channel bike...which he said he figured he paid 800 for the discovery...and his like 14 year old son was riding it...the discovery is like the same bike lance armstrong rode...anyways...i paid way less for my trek, but i love it. Its a all aluminum frame with sti shifters, it also came with some speed pedals and riding cleats, but i need to tune the pedals in some so i put my old pedals on the bike with toe clips. But yah...i have noticed gas was going back up so i wanted a nice new road bike that i could ride between home and school. I am going to pretty much park the 626 all summer and spring and only drive it to work and off the peninsula...its like a 45 minute drive to work so i am not going to ride there and i have all of my tools i wouldnt be able to take with me on a bike lol. Anyways....pictars!!!

These are what the sti shifters look like...they are integrated into the brake handles so it makes for quicker shifts. The bike in the background is my friend shane's schwinn varcity.

I thought a picture of the bike in a bathtub would be funny.

lol. My brother has one of the earliest composite bikes they made...its part aluminum part carbon fiber. He got it off a guy on craigslist in portland last summer. Before that he had a sekai from the 70s that he bought from a guy in seattle...its actually in awesome shape for a bike from like the 70s.

I had a old school Peugeot 10 speed Bike last year. It had a alternator on the rear tire that powered the front light. looked like a debo bike.

Damn roadies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol.gif) J/K

I actually put road bike tires on my old '96 GT mtn bike recently....man what a huge difference riding on the roads now, hardly any resistance at all, compared to riding my Cannondale mtn bike dual suspension on the street. Makes me wish I would of bought a pair of those tires years ago....the GT had been hanging on the wall for 8 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol.gif)
Anywho, nice bike. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

heres an old Panasonic i restored last year. i cant ride it because of my height disadvantage (seat is in my armpit when i stand next to it) but i couldnt let it go to waste. i found it next to a dumpster at my friends apartment complex in pretty rough shape, so i tossed it in the truck and took the time to restore it.

freakin suicide shifters....omg....that thing looks exactly like my old schwinn traveler lol. I wonder how tall it is if it comes up to your armpit haha. My frame is 56cm. I put a new white bontragger seat on it this weekend. I picked it up for 15 bucks friday from bikes and beyond over in astoria....i was surprised they sold it to me for so cheap. But i had to get it because the seat that came on it was hard as a rock. But yah, I went for a short ride today to my moms house....and i feel so out of shape from not riding since like october. I cant even use my full outer gear yet....Oh, and I had my bike leaned up outside my moms house and while i was inside the wind blew it over scratched up my top bar....(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif). I am going to try to buff out and if that doesnt work i will see if bikes and beyond has some touch up paint that will match, they should...they are a trek dealer.

sweet triumph! I love older ones more, but thats cool. What kind of car is that in the back?

My brother could prolly ride your panasonic julie lol...he is freakin tall...he is lucky to have found a composite trek to have fit him.

(IMG:http://a444.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/18/l_4c163a88ab37f164ddff0a2171126bbb.jpg)

thats the old bike...it has a front wheel off of a sekai and the back wheel is off of a peugeot...its got a motobocane rear cassette....i wasnt able to use full outer on that bike also for awhile...but when i did i was able to beome a break away sprinter...but the thing was a pig and climbing hills was a huge pita. The trek is so light and the stis make for quick shifts...so i should be able to fly up a hill, especially after my legs get strong again. I should take some pics of the cannondale shoes with clips and spd pedals...i have adjusted them so i should be able to get them clipped and unclipped easier when i put them back on the bike...i just want to be used to the bike and be able to use its outer gear. I am also not used to standing sprinting on it since my handle bars are so much lower. I actually used the drop bars today and i was leaning over so far...

to get into the pedals you push the front of the clip into the pedal then step down on it so the back clicks in and to get out you just turn your heel out away from the bike. They are easier to get into then they are to get out. My brother just picked up a different style of pedal that looks like it will be easier to get into with the clips for like 25 bucks shipped...but he cant find any shoes that fit him lol. I think I might switch my pedals and clips tho after i see his and how they work...

The cleats pictured look like the typical SPD style cleats.
Easy to use once you get use to them....took a couple of good tumbles before I got use to them, but I love them now, and would never go back to a standard pedal, or strap pedal

i had to stop and think for a min, i was like wait Julie is a super midget!!!

i have a single speed disco-trek (its black red and gold,i use it for pub crawls downtown.

this is a great town to have a bike in as they have the dag-on-righaway in most cases.

i dont like the shoes though and those small peddals, i always feel im going to break them, my single speed and my roady both have downhill pedals on them.

what kind of car is that in the background flynlow?? i assume its a variation of a smart car?

yeah, im ridiculously short. when my s12 actually ran, i had the seat most of the way up in order to push the clutch pedal down fully

and that car in the background is a Smart Roadster. has a little motorcycle type engine with a tiny turbo on it

sam31183Jan 21, 2009, 1:09 am · #17

I am going to throw the speed pedals on once i am able to actually use my full outer gear and able to stand sprint on the bike...i am still getting used to standing sprints on this thing since the handlebars are so much lower then on my schwinn...but hardcore rode bikes are supposed to have lower handle bars. I am going over to my brothers on friday to tune the rear derailer in some more and try to buff out the scratch with a dremel and a buffing wheel...

sam31183Jan 26, 2009, 12:26 am · #18

So I put the speed pedals back on friday and my brother and i made some more adjustments...to the handlebars, tire pressure, and rear derailer...shifts like a dream now. But before we did all that we ran to napa to grab some wax to buff out my scratches on the top bar and then went downtown to grab some lunch and on the way i feel down and went boom...

I tried to get back on to the sidewalk at a spot where the sidewalk dipped down, but the lip it had was to much for my skinny 1 inch wheels, the schwinn hat 1 1/2 inch wheels so i am pretty sure i made that same transition a bunch of times before. I turned around and rode on it all day tho...i scraped my knee a bit to, but it looks like nothing compared to the elbow. The speed pedals make a huge difference tho...i am still not able to use full outer on flat land..but my standing sprint is getting a bit better.
