My car's epicly slow progress. Its starting to pick up....
This will be the build thread for my car as I have finally acquisitioned a camera.

[PICS MOVED TO 3rd Post!]

Better pics soon.

Its slowly coming along. Its been a year and 24,000 miles of beatings. Its hit Palomar mountain more than 10 times now. Always love the driving even when things were really fucked up it was a fun car to drive. New front struts, and new strut mounts help and the new tires are really nice, 245/45's in the back and 215/40's up front.

MaxpowSep 1, 2009, 3:04 am · #3

Nobody will ever get my flaps. My car is going to be in good condition one day!

This is how it is now:

do you have some kind of story about that front fender looking like it got in a ficght with a can opener?

MaxpowSep 1, 2009, 4:26 am · #5

Wanted to fit the old 16's on and they were too big so I got spacers and used vice grips to butcher the fender.

Ju_S12_TurboSep 1, 2009, 4:28 am · #6

What kind of flares are those?

MaxpowSep 1, 2009, 4:30 am · #7

They're bolt on ZG flares.

nismologistSep 1, 2009, 4:38 am · #8

pretty crafty if I say so myself...not on  the pretty side, but with the flares, it looks better.

Are they plastic or are they fiber glass?, just trying to see cause they look a little different from mine

Real crafty...

I just didn't have the right tools to do it properly was way to retarded when I decided to do alot of the things I've done. The flares are nice, it just needs new rear suspension so it doesn't sag and grind, and a lowering.

They're plastic with a fiberglass backing.

Thanks. It'll be much better than this when I start making some better money.

someone donate a fender

MaxpowSep 1, 2009, 1:42 pm · #15

I'm not even worried about the fenders until I can get a new diff, new trans, and rebuild the motor. Starting to run like asshole. Have a feeling its going to nade itself pretty soon.

Wow... So I figured out why my valves went to the shitter. Homicide. Someone who has a problem with me always working on my car sabotaged my valvetrain. I opened the oil cap to look inside, and right there was this piece of plastic:

I know its not from me, and the fact that one of my wheels was loosened this week to the point where it fell off, and the fact that the security gaurds have been ticketing me in my driveway saying that they will tow me...

Can't all be coincidence.

Set up some cameras and get all spy kids on the shit. If its security sabotaging you, you now have leverage for an out of court settlement and money for your whip.

Yeah me and my room mate are planning some different operations to deter further activity. We're going to set up security on my car, 480 volts worth of securty. And I am going to look into camera's.

Some back story so I don't sound crazy:

Couple years ago my mom met an evil man to replace my dad, he beat the shit out of me, so I ran away and moved out when I was 17. Now I'm 20 and he and I still don't get along and I haven't talked to my mother in months because of his latest episode (He broke my windsheild with a hammer) and his best friend just so happens to be the new security guard on duty for my home owners association... go figure. I move and he finds me even when I'm 30 miles away. Son of a bitch. Anyways, him and the security guard constantly torment me about my car and call it a piece of shit and other names. I do need to catch them red handed though.

Active security measures are punishable if deemed cruel and unusual. Keep that in mind.

Cameras are all you'll need. And you don't even need to buy special ones for the job. any old webcam hidden in something will work just fine. Higher the picture quality the better. That way everything is already digital and saved on a computer. Just a matter of having an old computer to retire to the job

As in, a webcam hidden in a rock facing the car. or in the mailbox post. etc etc

I was going to run the voltage to my hood release. So if someone touches it without first deactivating it via switch they get a nice surprise. But its not likely that I'll go through with it I guess. I'm just really pissed I have been so heavily sabotaged these last couple weeks. Webcam idea is good, I just need to craigslist an old computer.

Fixing my car:
Possibilities & Prices
Part         Price
Right Cylinder head   $50-$125
Left Cylinder Head   $50-65
Motor with 100k Miles   $500
Differential            $100-300
Transmission           $250
Trans Rebuild kit   $130
Valves & Lifters from RockAuto.com    $265
Gasket Set from RockAuto.com   $110

Stage 1: Cylinder Heads + Differential + Gaskets = $310-$540
-   Cheap
-   Will fix problems temporarily until more can be afforded.

Stage 2: Valves & Lifters = $265
-   Can modify new or old heads
-   Easy to do cheap port/polish

Stage 3: Motor + Trans + Trans Kit =  $880
-   Gives an extra of each drive-train part.
-   Makes rebuilding easier
-   Most expensive
-   Fixes EVERYTHING
-   Last thing to be done.

Plans I researched to get my car back to a good running state and fix it while I drive it. Will probably be getting the Diff when I'm driving back from Ohio at the end of November so that's some time from now, but the CYL heads I can probably get in the next few weeks. We'll see how finances and my work giving me some overtime go over.

Actually drove her to work yesterday and I'm doing so all week, the Accent's brakes took a shit so its valve noise till sunday when I can fix the brakes. I've been babying her on the road though and she's doing fine.

For catching people in a not so nice legal way I saw pepper spray bombs that can be set easily. I saw it in the back of a gun mag I bet it could be found with a google search. Also I have a set of heads from a non w-series turbo motor that have about 80,000 miles on them if your interested.  Everything is there but the cams.

Interesting for sure would shipping rape? I don't need the cams I think mine are probably fine, just some valves and lifters that aren't destroyed.

I find it kinda strange you picked up those aftermarket rims and tires when your entire car is needing attention in every department. Based on what you have said about people vandalizing and messing with your car aftermarket rims would just seem like a headache as it is just another thing to have to worry about on top of everything else.

As for your step dad or Mom's boyfriend why not just get a restraining order against him? He sounds like a real piece of work.

Mom has one on him... but she's letting him stay? I don't know I just try to stay out of their bullshit and not let it interfere any more with my life than it has to.

As for rolling around hood rich on my rims: I'm just trying to shine, boy. Skatin' on my 16's rollin fat.

Just kidding: I got the wheels and tires on sale as a combination for just a little bit more than it would have cost to replace the aweful tires I had on the car before, and my car hadn't had all these problems when I got the wheels. The downward spiral really started about a month after I got the wheels. . It'll get fixed. I've actually just been approved to start working over time at my job, so I should be getting about 150 or more extra added to my weekly check, so the car should be running better than ever by the time I join the Army in January.
RedneckSep 17, 2009, 2:40 am · #26

Yeah your rims just looked kinda expensive which is why I asked but if you got a good deal I can totally understand why you got them (the first order of business for my SE was to ditch those shitty stock rims too haha).

Xano, that's exactly what I thought when I saw it. I'm not sure what it is, it just looks like a scrap piece of plastic that would come from a toy, or really anything. I have no idea. It appeared sometime in a 1 week period between me doing an engine flush and checking my valve train to see how my gaskets were doing and when I went to top the oil off after I heard valve rape.

I don't know what shipping would be I'll find out if you want. I'd make it worth it because they might see the scrap yard otherwise. I had a thought.. have you pulled a valve cover? specificly the side with the oil fill? Maybe there is more parts floating around in there that you couldn't see through the fill hole. A few pieces of foreign material floating around up there could make some serious noises and possibly no damage or minimal damage.

Also on another note If your mother has a restraining order she lost her choice of letting him stay. Like she can't decide to follow it one day and say fuck it the next...Thats playing games with the system. Thats also opening up a door for you to return a little fire.

Yeah find out the shipping, deff. interested. Yeah I pulled the valve cover as soon as I saw it and checked around in there, its pretty gouged up in there and I think one of the valves is bent. But I have checked for more material and have only come across this piece.

Yeah I don't really want to fuck with people when they know where I am staying now. But yeah in the event of me and my mom ever getting along again, I would probably have to have him out of the situation. Not really worried about it, I have other things going on like my own kid that's being born next month.

We'll I just got back the 13th from my roadtrip to Washington to pick up a new R200. Was an awesome adventure and I'm currently making a thread for it:
http://www.club-s12.org/forums/index.php?s...c=28283&hl=

And I also had my son on the 22nd of October which will be detailed in this thread:
http://club-s12.org/v3/index.php?topic=28284

Car is running well, got some new heads from boosted VG, got the diff, need to put it all together, but she's actually still driving ok right now getting me to work and anywhere else I need to go. Have an E-fan to install and I was able to give it a good wash and peel off the rest of the 80's blue tint....

Some light progress has been made

Drove the Accent to Ohio... will have a pictures thread when I get back to my computer at home. Visiting quite a few states on our route. Did 105+ MPH on the 44 going through Oklahoma for about an hour. Was the fastest I've ever moved across a state.

Feel so popular. We're not going to be going through missou or wisconsin on the way back... but we did come through there on the way here. I should have said something before I left.

You don't want to see an accent anyways.. especially when its filled with my lady, my dog, and my 5 week old baby.

If I end up moving to Ohio, I'm going to have to drive the s12... and if I do, I'll do lots of visits.

I don't know who your kidding. A good friend and I are designing and building an AutoX 98 accent GSL right now.

It's surprising how many 240 parts we're pushing into it, actually. It's got a full 240 Ksport setup (just like mine), and misc bits here and there
sam31183Nov 29, 2009, 1:10 pm · #40

Jay, I demand a build thread for the accent! lol. I had a friend who had an older one...it was purple...hahaha. He got rid of it though last winter after we took it out for some snow/ice drifting. It was a beast. It made it up on to a couple of curbs at low speeds to and was just fine. Hyundais are beasties.
