S12 Silvia reproduction bonnet badges.

With an original MKI JDM Silvia bonnet badge as our reference, we have created a new and exciting reproduction product. Our badges have been moulded from a single peice of zinc, giving them a solid feel compared to the original plastic items. The 'S' logo and SILVIA text have been silver plated, and then covered with a crystal clear epoxy to protect them from the elements.

We have been heavily involved in the design and manufacturing process to ensure the highest quality product.

Complete your S12 project with one of our reproduction badges!

Wow! This is awesome! I'll be picking up one aswell

PraizewoodNov 15, 2009, 7:00 pm · #7

The reproduction has a different frame. Is there any specific reason for this?

seishukuNov 15, 2009, 7:41 pm · #8

Maybe because it looks more awesome? I donno.

Someone had to do it Colin!
I saw lots of threads with people attempting to do it but nobody coming through with the goods. I hope the demand expressed in those threads is still the same and people will buy these.

The border on the new badge is slightly thinner the whole way around by about 1.5mm. Just a little difference that I think makes it look better. The overall badge size is exactly the same as the original.

I have 25 of these badges available and have sold a few already, so if you want one get in before they go.
Email me at [email removed] to arrange one.

. I might be getting one so my original one doesn't get jacked haha
they look awsome !!

PraizewoodNov 16, 2009, 1:30 am · #11

It also looks good, more oldschool with the thinner frames. All in all I might even say it looks better than the originals. Will there be a re-production for us who might not make it?

I can have more done if this run of badges sells out.

Well yeah.  I was after it but was told that my original would need to be broken down and I was not going to do that.  I was working on sending pics with a scaled setup but never had a good camera that was up to par.

I personally would prefer the thicker border but this is indeed a job exceptionally well done!
KeithNov 16, 2009, 10:42 pm · #17

So what is that...like $120 US?

Blutonka22Nov 16, 2009, 10:59 pm · #18

$126.235 according to this website:

http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html

I like it but, I would rather spend that kind of money on mudflaps.

DraconisNov 18, 2009, 8:55 am · #19

Problem is, if you use Paypal or your bank to transfer money, it will be different than what you get estimates online more than likely since the currency rate changes quite constantly during the business day.

I sent the seller a question last week through ebay.....and still haven't heard back.....I was going to bid, but never got a response, so I didn't

BOSSMANNov 27, 2009, 8:23 pm · #24

Good to know it was someone in the club that got the badge.  I didn't want to bid on it because I don't want a repeat of the Impul body kit fiasco.

Keith!  LOL  The seller for those badges is Castle!  Contact him and he can help you out.

Seriously?  For a reproduction?  I'm with Blutonka22, rather spend on other parts.

Original in good shape, maybe, but I'll pass on someone pulling in 400% profit on an OEM knock-off.

Peace, Wolf

P.S. I just picked up a hood and rear hatch (complete) from an 87 SE and a 60mm T/B from a S-14 with both cable wheels, grand total $72.33.

Factory black paint, no rust, no dents, exterior paint is a little faded but I will be painting anyway.  All the decals on the underside of hood look showroom fresh, gonna leave them there.  Sha-wing!

I don't think you understand 1. how rare the original badges are, and 2. what it costs him to reproduce them in small quantities. I'd prefer if we don't insult his efforts, if you don't want to buy them, then don't, but we don't need people posting here putting down what he's doing. Not even in a small "no offense" kinda way.

Edit: let me be more clear, this thread is for questions regarding the reproduction badges only. The discussion needs to be in that direction.

Sorry, I was not trying to be offensive. Just was saying that they are a big chunk of change for a reproduction.   That is a big leap of faith on his part if they cost so much just to make.

I do understand the rarity of the originals, however, these are not OEM they are reproductions.  I made a score the other day and was just sayin as an example.  I did not intend to rub anyone wrong, E-mail is a tough medium to convey correctly, it can be misread so easily.   Tough skin is a plus.

Peace, Wolf "Cheap Bastard" Dilworth
ArroMar 30, 2010, 8:21 pm · #30

Even the Japanese themselves have difficulties obtaining them, in Japan. Maybe that puts some perspective on things. Still, there will be no more posts discussing the rarity or validity of cost in this thread.

I just received my repo badge and was surprised when I got it out of its padded envelope.

So a review of sorts comparing the original to the repro.
 - they are the same dimensions besides what Matty mentioned
 - they appear a lot cleaner and vibrant, I am assuming due to age and difference in material
 - there is a considerable weight difference between the two
 - the oem badge is plastic and I've been worried about doing anything it, the repro is like full metal or something.  it is quite sturdy and a solid item

Overall, I am quite impressed by this.  I do know there are several still available.  Since the OEM ones are hard to obtain by all means, I do suggest buying the repro. badge.

Ditto.  Reason why I have kept my original hidden and rarely show it.  Now, I can rock a badge without worrying so much.

But yeah, there are a few still available.  Go to the links Matty put up on the opener.  All should go well.

It's actually made of zinc.

Which one by chance?  I dont know the materials any are specifically made up of nor have I ever really attempted to find out.  Just going off of what I can feel.

Zinc is a metal, so it's not wrong what you said
DraconisJun 21, 2010, 10:52 pm · #40

Yeah thanks.  I just went over some pages to see if Matty did say what the badge was made of.  Sure did, opener too. lol  I didnt care what was made of honestly.  I just knew I wanted one and that Matty made some good quality stuffs.

ArroJun 21, 2010, 10:58 pm · #41

that's better, should resist corrosion. Zinc plating is what they put on brake rotors so the hubs don't rust.

PraizewoodJun 21, 2010, 11:03 pm · #42

and coatings for underside of cars so they don't rust. I hope someone will post a way to mount them on the mk2 hood in here

ArroJun 21, 2010, 11:05 pm · #43

hot glue gun.

Arrohot glue gun.
I was thinking a bracket bolted to the hood and then badge glued on that one. The unevenness of the the middle part makes it hard to put on directly

Arrothat's better, should resist corrosion. Zinc plating is what they put on brake rotors so the hubs don't rust.

Yup yup.  My rotors are zinc coated as well.  Good stuff I do have to say.  Anyway, this has detracted a bit from the original post.

Also one way to put them on would be double sided tape.  I do that.  I dont want it on my bonnet at all times.  I do know people will probably still attempt to take it off and thus, causing damage to the bonnet.  Instead, I drive with it off, but if I am at a show or anything cool, put it on with some tape and all is good.  That way it can show well.

Anyway, back to the repro bonnet badges.  Get a hold of Matty.  I know he has a few left.  There is a section for it over on google.com or refer to the first post for all the info.  I recommend.

Heya guys,

I still have plenty of these left, and have shipped them all over the world and heard nothing but good reviews about them.
Thanks for the kind words Colin, I'm glad you are happy with the badge.

You can email me: [email removed]
Or use the contact form over at google.com to organise purchasing one of these.

Thanks,

Matt.

Even better is that when Zinc oxidizes eventually, it turns a grey/black color, and still looks fairly nice, albeit not shiny.
