im really tired of view new posts being littered with multiple craigslist threads... cant they just be all in the same one?

Craigslist Thread
This wouldn't be a bad idea, though after some time, it would get massive, and that can cause some server end problems unfortunately.
I have a few questions/points to pose to people for this.
1. What section would it go in?
2. Craigslist posts expire after a certain period of time, but we have no way to make posts delete themselves after a certain time. This would leave a mess for the mods/admins, as we'd have to routinely monitor this thread and remove defunct listings to keep the length down.
3. A lot of people like to comment on craigslist adds here, which basically makes each craigslist link into a conversation of its own.
I think we should leave it the way it is, personally, as it would put quite a bit of strain on us, which we unfortunately would get behind on, whch would cause a problem.
a strain? the thread woudlnt get huge.. it be just as much info posted as in multiple threads
you can always delete and remake a new craigslist page if it gets past 30 pages or so
im just sick of all these craigslist adds... i dont live anywhere near the adds anyways, neither do alot of people
once the add dies its fine.. you check check the newest page and go from there

Because I'm an ass.
bahaha look at that east cost pricing
its funny how parts are so cheap but cars themselves are expensive and rusty

Without a doubt. Go to cali and buy three rust-free S12's without motor issues for the price of that one.
It's depressing. Both coasts. And us in the middle get shafted with them all being gone.
There should just be another section inside of the WTS section that is specially for craigslist threads.
There really isnt much problem with the way its done now though. If you dont want to read that thread, you dont have to.
Read the ones you want, leave the ones you dont care about alone, dont even bother going into them. Then go to the top of that subforum's topic list. Click where it says Forum Options, then click either "Mark forum as read and return" or "Mark forum as read and return to board index"
Theres hundreds of threads that I dont read because it doesnt pertain to me at all.
xano your statement has been made... id like other opinions from other moderators
i feel like if we had a video thread, a craigslist threa, etc. more newer users, and people like me can see more of the techinical and more s12 specific posts under view new posts
David, I am elaborating.
My post wasn't a statement, it was a discussion point.
The other moderators/admins will chime in when they get time.
its not about what you read, or what pertains you
the overall threads of the forum should be mainly s12 specific stuff.
anyone would rather scroll down a video thread, and watch lol videos or whatever. then to have to search and have them in the way everytime you hit view new posts
same with the craigslists adds. just a suggestion
my craigslist posting was s12 specific.
The only point you make that I agree with David is that you end up looking within them only to find out they aren't even near you.
SO...
The obvious solution is that ALL Wanted to Sell posts -- even craigslist ones -- MUST be posted with the location IN THE TITLE. Also, no multiple listings in one thread or post. When you post multiple listings, we have to look inside of every thread to see what they are. If you keep each new thread to ONE listing, we can judge BY THE TITLE as to WHERE and WHAT it is. This makes shopping on our site easier.
If I see something for sale in, say, Virgina, something I wouldn't mind shipping out, then I'll look. But if I see:
[BC, Can] 1985 200SX Turbo not running
... and I live in, say, Florida, then I know that looking in that thread is a waste of my time.
It doesn't help much when we have "lots of parts for sale" threads, but then those typically are items small enough to ship, so it's ok. Still, you have to have the location in the title per the rules.
At any rate, the rules have been altered to reflect this. Please read them and follow them as described there. As usual, they will be enforced.
And that, as they say, solves that.
my posting DID have the state. so whats the problem?
I know I've mentioned a separate section under the Classified section for just Craigslist ads and such but at the time it wasnt as prevalent an issue as I may observe one would say today. Despite that, what Arro has stated could be considered a solution to the problem. Only other thing I could guess is that someone could go like:
[BC, Canada-ebay] 200sx.....
nismologistmy posting DID have the state. so whats the problem?
The problem is you grouped a bunch of locations in the same post. It just so happens that California ia a rather large state, very longish in shape, so posting ads for Sacramento area along with Los Angeles or San Diego is frustrating for people here in Cali.

That would work, although either way they MUST have the part I bolded in your text.
And it's not a suggestion any more, it's now in the rules, along with the other things I mentioned a couple mins ago in the Announcements section about locations in titles.
I dont understand why people just cant look at craigslist on their own. I think we should ban craigslists threads all together unless you are the actual seller.
I think craiglists threads are pointless... its like trying to tell everyone you can buy food at a grocery store and thats a waste of time.
i would actually disagree with that.
I dont always have time to search craigslist on my own, and am not nearly as efficient as other members on this board at doing so.
I think its great to post links to good craigslist ads, because it helps someone get back in an S12, or helps a new person who is browsing the forums looking for an S12 to find one.

Or aiding us kleptomaniacs in finding more to horde.

Isn't the purpose of this forum to help each other? Because that's all I'm trying to do when i post about a car for sale on clist.
Yeah they serve a purpose, but apparently one of you didn't bother to read here or the rules where I stated you can't post multiple listings in one thread
