S12 Contest...the Top S12 Notch/hatch/overall

Moderators cant post in the announcements section...weird. If Xano, or Arro want to move this later they can...but i guess until then this is as good a place as any!

Here are the pics of the decals so that everyone can see what is at  stake, they are about the same size as the normal club stickers so they  should fit on the notch and hatch corner windows, they are made using  reflective white vinyl so they pop out a little...also, i had some  reflective white in my personal stash so i went that route.

Submissions
1  week after this post is made the submissions thread will be made for the  hatch and the notch categories. The submission thread will be open for 2  weeks. After the 2 weeks is up a 1 week voting phase will begin in a  new thread for the hatch and the notch in a poll form. After the 1 week  is up the top 3 will be announced in each category. After the winners  are announced there will be a 1 week grace period before the over all  submission thread is started. This will give the runner ups a chance to  modify and improve their submissions. The submission thread will remain  open for 1 week, and then a 1 week voting period will begin, after the 1  week period, the winners will be announced.

Top Hatch, Top  Notch, and 2 runner ups from each will get a decal. Top S12 overall will  get a decal, and Top S12 runner up will get a decal. A discussion  thread will also be open while the submissions are up so people can  discuss submissions to try to rally votes...however, putting down of a  submitted car will not be tolerated and can be grounds for submission  removal and possibly being banned from the forum for a period of  time...or indefinitely.

Only active members  on the forum can participate, and no one can submit someone else's car  for them. If someone owns a hatch and a notch they can submit both,  however, if someone owns 2 notches they can only submit one, and if  someone owns 2 hatches they can only submit 1. Votes will be tallied by a  poll vote on the forum so it is completely member controlled who wins,  and the polls can not be manipulated. The only prizes at this time that  will be sent out are the decals. If any members which to contribute to  the prize poll at this time they can contact me and we can see if we can set something up for this year, or maybe next year. Oh, and no purchase necessary.

I wanted to say a couple more things about the contest real fast...

someone said before that the car with the most money into it would win...but the way i see it, this is going to be what it takes to win.

I kind of want everyone to think of the submission process as if though it where for a magazine article...kind of broken down like this:

Title

The title can be funny, or dumb, it just has to catch our attention and drag us in some.

Background

the background can be on the car, or the owner, or both...it can be funny also if it drags us in some and gets us interested.

pictars

pics that you think are the best of your s12...be it hard parking, or action shots.

mod list

pretty self explanatory...it is a list of the crazy things you have done to your car

closer

this could be anything from what you plan to do with the car next, or why your car is awesome.

why your car should be top s12 hatch or notch or overall

this one is a bit out of the magazine realm...but its good for the contest...

basically just say why you think your s12 should be winner of the contest...it will help gather you votes.

I like it, it makes it more of a contest if you have to write a bit of a run-down for the car, to explain WHY it's the best, rather than make it just a visual contest.

Thanks for the feedback! I have kind of put some thought into how things should go with this to make it worth while...i think its going to be interesting to see how things go. The decals turned out pretty good to I think.

Yah, I wanted to give a week after announcing so people can go get pics or try to modify last second things to make their cars sexy...that is part of the reason why there is a 1 week grace period between the hatch/notch contest and the over all contest...I want to try to stress how important a good submission can be for the contest. Although an impressive s12 and a fair amount of popularity on the forum will no doubt play into the voting process.

i think mods and admins should not be eligible to enter. having full access to all forum settings would enable them to tweek the results if they so choose. not trying to call anyone shady around here, just a suggestion. perhaps use an outside poll generator site to take the votes and have it delt with by someone that is not entered. that way no one can claim foul play.

The system does not provide for editing the vote number of posted polls, anyone can find this out if they research Invision Power Board software. I'm sure the IPB staff decided there was no need for altering poll votes, it serves absolutely no administrative purpose, so they left it neutral.

Anyways the only thing I have that could possibly compete is the RS-X and I wouldn't be entering it into this year's contest. And my blue S12 is a total beater

i make 8 rocks an hour at autozone. i buy my own foodies and pay my insurance. and fill my truck up alot

i just make sure i eat like every 3 days or so. and act like a total jew about everything. gets me money for the ride

haha Ive worked 15hrs a month for the last year....only way Ive bought my car parts and shit is doing brutal manual labor around my parents.... and getting a couple hundred bucks from them a here and there for that.....or selling off parts Ive accumulated (ie: my disco )

Rent, insurance, car payment(from a private seller), gas to and from work(30 miles each way), and 9.50/hr bout 35 hours a week. Plus I'm a beer snob, so I go out for tastings like two or three times a week lol

I have written a page or so, and went and took a few pictures with new parts and a '86 license plate woot...

do we need to make it look like a magazine article or is it cool as a block of text with some pictures?
