1987 Nissan 200SX XE Notchback,
Original 4 cyl. engine, automatic transmission
116,770 miles
$1,500 obo
Pick-up only - Los Angeles / Glendale area

This car is a beast. I bought it from the original owner in 2003 with the intention of driving it until it died, and I'd still be driving it if I weren't moving to Brooklyn at the end of the month. I'd love to find a new owner who understands how awesome it is and would give it the love and attention it deserves. Click thumbnails below for full images:

Pros:

New brakes installed 2/04
Remanufactured Rack and Pinion steering unit installed 7/04
Thorough tune-up (spark plugs replaced, timing adjusted, brakes master cylinder replaced, air and gas filters replaced, distributor cap cleaned) 5/09
New battery 2/10
Passed smog check with flying colors 2/10
Flies down the freeway – no shaking or anything when operating at higher speeds
AC works
Sony AM/FM/CD stereo unit installed, telescopic antenna works great, picks up signals from outer space.
Title in hand
Original manual
Awesome

Cons:

My mechanic, Mauricio at Jomag Auto Repair in Silverlake, says the only thing wrong with the car is that the front passenger side shock needs to be replaced. All of the other shocks are fine.

When I purchased the car, there were empty holes where some of the dashboard controls were meant to be.

I spilled coffee on the front passenger seat the first time I drove the car to work, in 2003. I was running late so I just left it. The stain from that spill is still visible on the seat, though I suppose that could be removed with a steamer.

The black on the front bumper is worn off in spots, revealing the yellow rubbery material below.

No major dents or scrapes in paint, but showing wear and tear typical of a car that's been on the road for 23 years.

Leather / plastic / vinyl areas of the dashboard and doors show age – some splits and cracks.

Missing one hubcap.

There's a leak in the tubing for the windshield washer fluid, so it's constantly empty. Due to the lack of rain in Southern California, it's never been a high priority.

****

Despite the "cons", this car is really in great running condition. It's been reliable for the past seven years - it always starts - and I know the right person could keep this car running and perhaps even restore it to its former glory. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Unfortunately I'm coming through your state in a Penske truck. We need to have the cars sold before we leave Los Angeles. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
