dyno'd the ca20 out of pure laughter and enjoyment today. threw down some power.

*we could find anywhere to put two straps, so we just had 3 people hang on the end :grinwink:

(cant figure out how to embed video, so heres the link to the fail)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emN-oqL76uc

result
68 whp
81 wtq.

power curve went flat after 4200 rpm!

this is with no airfilter, pacesetter headers, and full exhaust  ca20e is teh failz!

epic win., it easily won lowest hp throphy

the beast with its trophy

sideways_s12Oct 2, 2010, 7:46 pm · #5

Rofl oh yeah, that guy that said he'd bring in dyno sheets of his 200 rwhp non-turbo CA20E car, and then never came back?
sam31183Oct 3, 2010, 9:31 pm · #12

i think it was na actually...he said he knew some super secret awesome engine building tricks...and then kept bragging about beating on kids in brostangs...whateverz.

XanoOct 3, 2010, 10:06 pm · #13

yup, tis why i said non-turbo :P  i had enough acronyms in there already :P

sam31183Oct 3, 2010, 10:34 pm · #14

i ignored the non part...idk why...

SC S12Oct 6, 2010, 5:09 pm · #15

Any chance you'd let the header go?

lol, and mine sure feels more than that...on dyno day i should take it and dyno it...

TsumaOct 6, 2010, 9:49 pm · #16

I made 68.7 horspower and 85 lb/ft of torque with nothing but a K&N filter and my lovely Auto trans. lol

sideways_s12Oct 13, 2010, 9:25 pm · #17

since it's na you should advance the timing a bit and dyno again.....

Navy_Mech2Oct 14, 2010, 9:36 am · #18

lol why bother?

Phisherman09Oct 14, 2010, 9:48 am · #19

Lol the Timing was advanced. Like 22 degrees. I'm also at like 5500ft altitude. But then again, the ca20 just straight up fails.

sideways_s12Oct 14, 2010, 6:25 pm · #20

oh damn lol

ProlowtoneNov 19, 2010, 3:11 am · #21
 Would hate to see mine. Cylinder 1 compression =135 C2 =150 C3 =140 C4 =160.... I love C4 ...Ring kit anyone
drake_fistJan 17, 2011, 9:03 pm · #22

lol thats funny

Phisherman09Jan 17, 2011, 9:30 pm · #23

ahahhah this thread is full of fail. that motor was full of fail. it finally shot a spark plug out like 3 months ago. the car is ka powered now.

IggyEGuanaJan 17, 2011, 11:21 pm · #24

damn even with it tweaked for power AND the pacesetters it did that bad... wow.  we have to assume it was cuz of the altitude.  just so we dont break the poor ca20s heart, it was cuz of the altitude *wink

MaxpowJan 17, 2011, 11:49 pm · #25

5500ft altitude

hp loss = (elevation x 0.03 x hp @ sea level)/1000

5500 x 0.03 x 68 / 1000
11220 / 1000
11.22.

So the motor is losing 11.22 horsepower at that altitude. So it has about 79.22 Horses. Fucking beast.

Maxpow on 11:49:32 PM / 17-Jan-11 Fucking beast.

this ca20 block is now a boat anchor for my fishing boat. real talk.
MaxpowJan 17, 2011, 11:51 pm · #27

lul.

I have one of those boat anchors in my garage awaiting rebuild.

imtheguy247Sep 1, 2011, 12:08 pm · #28

Ca20's definetly have no power. I could probably transplant my riding lawnmower engine for more power...

IggyEGuanaSep 2, 2011, 4:20 am · #29

72whp and 84wtq

after that dyno i adding timing. that didnt do enough to notice but header added bottom end that made a big difference in drifting. the car can drift its own weight now without constant clutch kicking

sideways_s12Sep 16, 2011, 12:58 pm · #30

ca20 ftl lol

They make an aftermarket header for the ca20 or is it custom?
seishukuNov 30, 2011, 6:28 pm · #32

Pacesetter use to make one for the CA20, but it's long been discontinued.

Jamaican_DriftaFeb 3, 2013, 11:56 am · #33

This thread is so discouraging for CA owners lol I think I'm in the market for a KA now lol especially going from driving a Z32 everyday to a CA powered S12 don't get me wrong still love S12s till the death of me but my last S12 was KA powered and that motha Fuka was boss lol
