new OEM (yea oem, ones that fit, and last) s12 brake cables are hard to get, sometimes expensive if so, and never last if your into drifting, and need lots of adjustment, especially if you drive on the e brake alot by accident
PROS OF HYDRO BRAKE
no stretching cables,
solution to those who cant use a e brake
longer life
consistent lock
CONS OF HYDRO E BRAKE
they cost money
you cant press the brake pedal while pulling the lever
you cant modulate lock
heres a quick writeup
tools needed.
FLARE WRENCH 10 MILL
use that wrench, and that type of wrench ONLY for removing those old brake lines. get a pair of good vice grips if you strip them out
i purchased a CNC series 412 staging brake. you have to call to order, shipped to me. [va] it was around 180 American dollars
http://www.cncbrakes.com/hsb.asp?grp=hsb&subgrp=all&series=412&subseries=
why staging brake?
because i want a IN LINE setup, which means were using my stock rear calipers to lock my 15 inch steelies up mid drift
if your installing separate calipers (probally better, but cost more/more fabrication) youd need a hand brake, which cnc sells also. which just has 1 exiting port from the cylinder
heres the brake
its got 2 ports, comes with SAE fittings that have PIPE thread on them, do NOT try to hook up a flared brake line to the cylinder, itself, use the pipe thread adapters it comes with.
i dunno if you can buy metric ones, mine was SAE, 3/8th's by -24 3/16th brake line (which is our stock brake line size)
get 2 4 foot sections or so of brake line, and flare 2 SAE fittings onto the fitting on the cylinder, and make sure the line you buy has metric, (probally 1.0 mm) so the opposite end will go into the master
you can rent a double flare tool at your local autozone for free. just pay collateral and you get your money back afterwards.
if your a pussy and you do not want to learn how to flare brake lines, try to source a adapter.
results should look like this once its all done.
you will need a union fitting, i believe 1.0mm 3/16th line
and 2 4 foot sections of 3/16ths line, longer if you want, w/e you can always cut them to your desired length. INVERTED FLARE NOT BUBBLE FLARE
what your going to do, is disconnect the 3rd, or last brake line that goes into the master, add the union fitting, then place a line from the fitting, INTO the back of the hydro brake,
then run the FRONT (should be labeled) right back up into the master cylinder
picture for reference
heres how it looks in real life. i removed my dash because i have it held in by 2 zip ties. you can try to go around it

i bolted mine down on the trans tunnel. you can do w/e you want
bleed your brakes good
put everything back, and BAM go rip that shit down the freeway it 75 mph. its awesome

Hydraulic Emergency Brake Install (in line) DIY
You are a bamf.
Vote for sticky!
sick! so the rear brakes still function normally?
we've been trying to come up with a cheap solution for the socaltwelve, could we just use something like a clutch master cyl? or something else? $180 is kinda a lot
clutch master will work, if you can find one that has a brake like fitting for the inlet.
I stickied this because i love it...and i sticky the things i love.
The only thing i dont like is that you cant use the brakes while engaging the hydro brake...but other than that, its pure win.

So instead of a fluid reservoir, you need a brake line fitting (and has to be able to hold brake line pressure, so like 1000PSI)
seishuku on 03:52:04 PM / 21-Oct-10(and has to be able to hold brake line pressure, so like 1000PSI)At minimum
you can get master cylinders meant for this for like $50... just doesnt have the fancy lever and shit.

i think thats the one, if not, just look around their site and youll find it.
Kinda, that's a remote res., you're on the right track though
i know wilwood makes a master cylinder for it, i know people who have used them, im just not educated in this stuff so idk exactly whats needed.
I did this . . .
Not allowed verticle hand brakes as of next rally season :grumpy:
Now on the MOT the cables will still move the caliper arms (just - to pass MOT), but are slacked off so under bugger all strain. Super cheapo hydraulic hand brake.
I've considered doing that but honestly our e-brakes are in the worst position ever.
why not do it do it vertical with a slave cylinder?
