Nothing too exciting, just playing around with my new HD cam, mounted on the new suction cup mount I got.    This mount is pretty sweet.  It has 3 swivel points so you can rotate/ articulate it to get it exactly where you want the camera to point at, and the suction cup stays put too!  We tested it last week on the track, mounted on the side of my Bimmer.   We took several 15-20 minute vids with speeds over 100mph and it stayed put all day long.

Here it is mounted on the left side down low behind the back wheel, just in front of the red side marker.

Here is the first vid; 1080P.....like I said, pretty boring stuff.  I did get it in to boost a little,  right about the 5 min mark.  Hit around 13-14 psi (90% throttle); 1st and 2nd gear pulls.

Here is the second vid; 1080P.....the camera is mounted in the same spot, I just spun the camera around so it faces towards the rear.  A little higher boost this time.  Around the 1.20 minute mark.  18-19 psi (full throttle); 1st and 2nd gear pulls, wheel spin in both gears once boost builds. devilsidesmile

I'm still playing with it to get the best angle.  I need to make a windscreen for it or something to help reduce the wind noise.  I'll mount it on the inside of the windshield and get some vids, maybe tomorrow and post up.

Wow looks like you're gonna have a lotta fun with that thing as you come up with ideas

KeithOct 13, 2010, 4:43 am · #3

Yeah,....should be cool.  It'll mount anywhere that is smooth and the suction cup fits on

ArroOct 13, 2010, 5:02 am · #4

you gonna hit the track with the bmw and the new mount? Cheesy

I did last week.  I guess you didn't see the thread in the Lounge.

I've got about an hour of footage.  I just need to edit them to shorten them up a hair as they are like 2 GB each.  I'll post them up too

Gah your car is sick... I love it when the turbo spools sounds intense!

KeithOct 13, 2010, 3:02 pm · #7

some people have bin asking for new videos of the s12. so I strapped in the camera and went for a ride. first video is on waste gate at about 350 at the wheels. second vid is full boost about 24psi which dynoed 400hp at the wheels.

Those new wheels fill out the fenders so much better than the old ones! And it sounds sick too!

seishukuOct 27, 2010, 5:56 pm · #18

You need some stickier tires, that power isn't doing you any favors.

SlickS12Oct 27, 2010, 8:04 pm · #19

I am down with the sickness :p

Looking at an old vid, the one with the tire shredding burnout, is that a speed trap hose thing right in front of the cameraman? lolz

FridayNightHeatOct 28, 2010, 8:11 am · #21

thanks I was wanting to know because I'm thinking of doing a v8 swap and making 450ish hp to the wheels and I dont want to have to make a ford 8 bolt rear end under it. I love your car man.

nismo200sx16Oct 28, 2010, 1:32 pm · #22

I would do the r200 swap if I was to do it over again. r200 is stronger and their are lsd options. but I have a custom aluminum drive shaft that wasn't cheep so I won't be swapping to r200. so far I have had no failures in the rear but I am sure the axels will fail at some point.

FridayNightHeatOct 29, 2010, 4:31 pm · #23

I have a r200 in it already I just thought the stock rear ends would break with that much power and I'm going to have to get a custom on for it I have a auto car right now I'm going to manual with a 5.0 swap but I'm still thinking on if I want to go injection or carb

nismo200sx16Nov 11, 2010, 6:37 pm · #28

made them out of fiberglass. boost on the left side and wide band on the right. far right is the plx m500.

lexlaxluxNov 12, 2010, 9:46 pm · #29

what kind of camera and mount set up do you have going?
My cousin has a go pro and that things pretty good for how small and cheap it is

MaxpowNov 12, 2010, 10:17 pm · #30

If you put it on your roof and did a track sesh that would be pretty cool too. How much are these mounts and do you know how the cam mounts? Is it the typical threaded setup that goes into the camera or something special? I want.

KeithNov 12, 2010, 10:31 pm · #31

It's a standard size camera mount thread like for tripods.

The mount itself is called the Fat Gecko made by Delkin

http://www.delkin.com/products/accessories/fat-gecko-mini-mount.html

I picked it up new on Amazon for like 30 bucks

MaxpowNov 12, 2010, 10:40 pm · #32

Oh sweet. Thanks man. Yeah I have a tripod, but for this garbage camera I have its pointless. I just want to mount it on my car now and forget about it.

ChadillacS12Nov 19, 2010, 6:23 am · #33

JordanNov 19, 2010, 7:29 am · #34

I noticed you also have an SR S13. How does the S12 chassis compare to an S13 or S14, rigidity wise?

nismo200sx16Dec 16, 2010, 2:07 pm · #40

seams about the same but mine is braced up in the rear.

MalcolmDec 16, 2010, 2:14 pm · #41

Just curious. What spring rates are you running?

nismo200sx16Dec 16, 2010, 2:28 pm · #42

they are megan coilovers for a s13 . so what ever those rates are.

Sean_howell1Sep 20, 2011, 4:44 pm · #43

I wish my Sunday drives were that fun.
