Have you forgotten about the quality education you can get at CCC?  Its right across the river man!  As for the online stuff, I have only taken individual courses on specific topics an software.  I have had good luch with those and usually come away from them satisfied with the knowledge I got.  Havn't been through any degree program type courses though.

ccc doesnt have a 2 year IT program any more....Grays Harbor College has in ilwaco campus...but ghc no longer even has a technology department.

Out of curiosity . . . why does it matter anyway?  There is no tech industry in or near Long Beach anyway.  Unless you count support for high end fish finders, and marine GPS/loran.

I am fine about moving after I get a degree...but I am worried about moving, then going to school, then finding work. I like it here, don't get me wrong. I just want to do this line of work, hopefully in another part of Washington or oregon.

I tried for a few years to find an IT job in WA or OR.  I wish you luck.  Several years of applying lead to no offers for me.  Then again, my field is very narrow and difficult to get into anyway.  A degree like you're talking about opens alot more doors.

finding IT work is really hard to get into, I started a business with it tho, seems like there is always a supply and demand for both businesses and home computing. Even in vegas it's really hard, cut throat. I moved to oregon and unless you know someone it's really hard to get in.
But the business is there, if you have a decent and good plan, especially mid size towns.

I agree, it seems with IT. It's not what you have or know, it's who you know. Or they're really desperate to replace the position and you probably meet or exceed their qualifications with shitty pay compared to the last guy. This goes for anywhere, I've been applying to all over southern california the last couple months and no call backs or anything. I've even applied for positions that I'm over-qualified for and still no call backs.

thats kind of a bummer...hopefully things will get a little bit better. I know a guy locally who works for the phone company here...not sure if he could possibly help me get my foot in the door or not...but i am sure he could introduce me to a couple of people. I work at a gas station right now making minimum wage....and i just want more. Also, I have been wanting to do IT since I was a senior in high school. I remember seeing a thing on tv awhile back about how fargo north dakota has more openings in the tech field than any where else and that it is super cheap to live there....not saying it would be my first option....but it could be my best...hah.

Denver is a tech heavy city and has proven to be more resesion proof than most.  Can still find IT jobs here but there's quite a bit of competition.

I am definitely not opposed to moving to find work. Was hoping to stay in my states though obviously. I have some friends in the fort collins/laramie area....but I am sure that's got to be on the other side of Colorado. Oh, and in case any one was wondering, I ended up deciding on devry. I should be starting classes online by the 24th of this month. I also ordered parts yesterday to build a new desktop for school. My current 2 desktops are both old and one of them won't turn on. Lately I have just been using my netbook or my phone for internet. The netbook is a slower one though and I have to position the charge cable now for it to take a charge.
