hello all. im picking up my second s12 here tomorrow, and will be doing a bunch of research in the next while here so i can likely swap it over to a ka24de(possibly T in the future). one of my biggest issues with this is the only swap i have done, had a conversion harness. im not the best with wireing, actually to be blunt, im awful. i own a multimeter which i called a voltage tester for two years, lol.
anyways, about the car. im paying way too much, because there arent any really around. im hoping to get it for around $1700. the paint is faded, but rust seems minimal, also it has the ca18et and a 5speed in it. it seems to be mostly stock, im just a tad affraid of the gremlins that will soon come to light once i get to know her. but i guess thats what its all about, right guys?
my first gazelle i had bought in semi running condition, at the age of 18. eventually the parents told me it had to go, as i really never had any plans of doing anything to it, even though i loved it so. eventually, i found it in a scrap yard, where it diddnt last long. it was n/a, smoked like nobodys business, and needed a clutch badly.
im not sure what my plans for this car will be, but i can say this, ive been waiting for one of these for 7 years, and its finally my time to have one again. im very excited! now, i have to get it ready for the winter fun thats soon to come, and look for a swap! come spring id just like it to have enough power that i can have a little more fun with it, and not have to worry about it all the time. i hope this car turns out to be solid! im bringing a friend who knows more about what can be fixed, and what shouldnt be touched because of complications. im so excited its likely as i take it for a test drive ill buy it on the spot, which is a terrible thing, and ive done it before on a complete lemon. so, wish me luck! ill post back in a couple days with my results.

Hello hello hello.... is anybody in there?
Edmonton (UK? I've never heard of an Edmonton AU) is a very different place than the US, so before anyone says your overpaying, chances are you probably REALLY aren't.
It's kind of hard for an S12 to be a lemon, because everything is replaceable to easily Wink
Wilkommen! Be sure to post pics!
edmonton alberta, canada! i also wish i would have capitalized my user name, damnit. glare
CANADA!
I can't see them being very common up there either. These things rust pretty easily
In retrospect, I was pondering the KA thing for a little bit, they aren't exactly common in anywhere but north america. lol
yeah. everyone getting into the drift scene here is getting rid of them for the sr's.
because you know, you NEED an sr to be a super cool drifer and stuff. well, thats how a lot of the locals think anyways. all good! more ka's for this guy!
Another frozen Canadian eh.

Hey now. I have a SR and i drift...... problem brah
LOL
Welcome here!
Good luck with it... and no you are not overpaying it... I owned a couple of s12 in the past, and I never paid less than 1000$ for a rusted out automatic notch... they are indeed getting pretty rare in Canada... and even more when you move toward the east and the damn salt on the roads...
Oh and I have to say that the title reminded me of an old Pink Floyd tune... lol

bad news bears guys. my friend saved me a ton of pain on this car. number 1, there is a foot long hole in the floor on the drivers side, and its soft enough that it moves in the centre. so its nearly through.
the guy told us it needs a tune up, okay? its an old motor, no big deal. its likely it wont run perfect. i start it, under slight throttle the bottom end knocks. okay. the body was fine for the most part though. strut towers were decent, interior minus the drivers door was decent.. he does not have the spare parts he has listed though. they are at the previous owners place, which he cant get because the prev owner likely sold the parts, and is giving the kid the run around. hatch wont release either, which he says over and over it should.
have a look out back, i hear him telling my buddy it runs rich hence the lack smoke.my friend holds his hand up in the exhaust, and theres specs of oil all over his hand under idle, and theres more spitting on the ground.
he goes in to throttle it a bit to check the knock out, and i put my hand in front of the exhaust while he gave it some rpms. it hand was black within a second. i would guess after 4-5 blips of the throttle, there would be drips coming off my fingers onto the ground.
the turbo had bad seals, which is no big deal, but the motor was not taken care of. valve cover gasket leaking, pan leaking heavily.
as totally excited and stoked as i was to get this car, there was no way it would have lasted me the winter so i could swap it in the spring. im pretty sad =(. ill keep on looking, i guess!
im very happy i brought my buddy, i can almost guarantee i would have bought that car if he wasnt there. im sad, but at the same time, im glad i diddnt bring it home only to have it throw 3L of oil out of the exhaust on the 150km drive home.
