MaxpowNov 14, 2011, 6:11 pm · #2

Good luck with sale. You will need to come down a ton in price for any of the broke asses here to pay.

jimbrowniiiNov 14, 2011, 6:45 pm · #3

I'll keep my baby, I made it.

MaxpowNov 14, 2011, 7:10 pm · #4

Nothing against the car. I was just saying. 7g's is unheard of. I've had 4 of them for 2100.

jimbrowniiiNov 14, 2011, 7:17 pm · #5

I'll slam in into some walls next year.

turbo-s12Nov 14, 2011, 7:24 pm · #6

cool car but it will never sell for 7k glws

MaxpowNov 14, 2011, 7:26 pm · #7

Good luck with sale. We don't need to argue its clear we do not agree.

jimbrowniiiNov 14, 2011, 7:39 pm · #8

I'm an idiot like that.

VG30_S12Nov 14, 2011, 8:08 pm · #9

Well you probably won't listen but here goes...
They weren't knocking you down they were tyring to wake your ass up... The s12 is not a very.popular car... Its a niche car... So most are like "oh cool car I haven't seen one in years" but probably wouldn't buy one... Then you have the fact that s13s, which are lightyears more capable out of the box for drifting are being marketed for much less with similar sr20 or even RB, VG,VQ, VH45,2jz... So youve over priced the market with a less popular car... That and keep in mind that any project that you get, you will not get your money back... hopefully some but almost never all of it

Tbh if I had a reasonable offer, id make it... It is a nice car. You are right in saying its worth someone will pay but its just opinion that your price is over the market value and very few might pay that

At the same point you guys shouldn't hassle him... Hes got a set price in his mind and our heckling isnt gunna help. Ether make a real offer or gtfo. He'll ether accept, decline and keep it or lower the price or hell find some one with more money than sense...

With that I bid you good day, and good luck with your sale...

I dunno? I bought it in February this year
Colonel GustardNov 14, 2011, 9:20 pm · #13

its an s12, anything over 3k is unheard of

DraconisNov 14, 2011, 9:54 pm · #14

Two pages of this people arguing over a price? It is fine to offer suggestions as to the price if one feels it is grossly inappropriate; however, it needs to be in a constructive and fair manner. This by far did not get off to either of those. I agree with the starter, this thread could use some cleaning for it is far too much crap talking.

I will say though that yes, building a proper car as it seems to be described is hard without spending a decent amount of money. That is something most people are not willing to do. I personally wouldnt spend 7k for the car at hand. Very possibly 4 or 5k yes considering the engine mainly and the work done to it if is what I expect. Thing is, for an S12, few break even and fewer make money off them as a general rule. Hell, I put my car up on Craigs for the hell of it at my roommate's request and the highest I got an offer for was 8k.

That is my opinion but worth bringing to the mods'/admins' attention.

JayNov 14, 2011, 10:01 pm · #15

No need to. My attention has been brought because I saw this coming.

I've cleaned up what I'm going to clean up.  What's left is no filth. But you will never, ever, ever get me, or any of the other mods to clean up where people question your price and give you feedback in a civil manner.

Civil = No vulgar "Name calling"

Everyone else. Keep it clean. Keep it civil. That's all I ask. Anything other than that and I will be handing out some time out. Because everyone was provoked up until this point, It's either nobody gets a warning, or everyone gets a warning. THIS time it will slide. But next time, it will be back with a vengeance. Don't let a next time happen.

And no, My mom did not slap me for "If you don't have anything nice" blah blah blah. My parents taught me how to prove a point, before it became necessary.

Also

jimbrowniii on 09:31:33 PM / 14-Nov-11Why do you continue to fill my sell thread with negativity there is already plenty enough of it here no one asked for your opinion

Yes you did. When you put this post up, you 100% did.
Straight from the rules.

A word to the wise: selling things on a forum means you are selling things to the scrutiny of the users, some of who are fair, and some who may not be, or who may not reasonably understand your reasons for pricing and conditions. The comments users make in for sale threads, so long as they are CIVIL, are valid, and the seller must be prepared for the possibility that someone's comments may affect the sale of their items as desired. I feel this more than adequately covers the issue, as well as sets the record straight about what is tolerated, what is not, and what the realistic expectations are for selling items on this forum (or pretty much any forum for that matter).

And, I'm going to say this publicly. Maxpow knows how to keep me at bay, while still laughing with him. Take lessons y'all

My advice:  Part it out if you want what you put into it back again.  You will *never* sell it for $7K in a S12 body.  And we know you beat on it while drifting it, so how reliable can it be?  Not $7K reliable.  And a welded diff?  Ugh.

It would be hard to sell in an S13 or 14 body as is, and especially in this one because that S12 body looks all beat to hell.

jimbrowniiiNov 15, 2011, 12:32 pm · #18

SchizophrenicMCNov 15, 2011, 1:39 pm · #19

You have low-resolution photos of it on the track, and showcasing the ridiculous S13 knuckles, and a video of you skidding around a parking lot, which culminates in you spinning the vehicle out.

This, and the welded diff, suggest it is beat to hell. You have no interior shots, or anything bigger than Craigslist's default resolution photos.

In any case, if I can't get the amount of money I want out of my car's potential sale, I'm going to part her. I would suggest you do the same if you want to get near the amount of money you put in, back out.

Alternatively, lower your price to something more reasonable, so you don't drive people off. It's a friendly suggestion that doesn't mean to imply anything about your level of intelligence. People see "7 grand S12" and scoff. Work your way down a bit. Sacrifice some pride, and profit, so that maybe you can make any at all ;)

DaveNov 15, 2011, 2:09 pm · #20

I love it when people come out with that nugget "I don't need to sell it" to back up their price.

Want me to scoff even harder?  You just made it happen.

I tried to be nice and give you advice to follow your post about what you put into it, you turned it around.  Good luck selling with that 'tude bro.

I think this thread is exactly why my s12 will never be sold. would have to give it away. just keep it and have fun with it. you cant get you money back. if you only have 8k sell it for 3 or 4k . shit if I could get half of the 20k sunk in mine it would probably be gone. so it stays here for when I feel like going for a rip.

VG30_S12Nov 15, 2011, 3:38 pm · #23

^^^ this
I've probably got more than 6k into mine and all I've to show for it is a ka swap and some mesh ssrs... But thats mostly to me beinga dummy on some things(not to mentions all the borked fj20ets and parts)

Anyway id be lucky that even though mine is an original fj car from over the pond, if I saw 2k for it an thats a push... I'm in deep financial trouble and its just literally not worth it to sell me car so I'll keep it and dump more money into the pit... Besides I love the lil fucker ;)

Don't be a fan boy and follow whatever car you get your hand on likei did... Stick with it, I went through the same thing with my s12

jimbrowniiiNov 15, 2011, 5:34 pm · #24

Thanks for all the comments guys, good and bad, cause I now have a little more love for my junky s12 with crappy knuckles, stupid suspension, welded diff, and retarded sr swap instead of a common low powered single cam ka, cut springs, and open diff.

decoNov 15, 2011, 7:11 pm · #25

Ya cuz your car is sooo cool!!!!!!!!

jimbrowniii on 05:34:37 PM / 15-Nov-11I guess I'm a drifting fanboy :) I hate seeing the same old crap at events. My car isn't perfect. It's solid and no rust holes anywhere. I like building cars not everyone goes to first and I like to do the best I can at it. I bought good parts and I paid too much, apparently, for what I do have. No big deal to me. I'll keep it and drift the snot out of it until somebody wants it enough to offer me something that gets my attention. I get bored easily call it car a.d.d. I have a high price to drive away the broke fanboys and get something else that's also worth having. Don't like it, oh well. I think it's pretty awesome. Maybe next year I'll dump another 7-8k into it then I'll repost it for 14k without a problem. For those who don't see this as a insane price and know what it takes to build cars that aren't flooding the market already (240sx and the like) I thank you for looking. I should have made the title FT: instead since that's really what I'm shooting for anyhow. Thanks for all the comments guys, good and bad, cause I now have a little more love for my junky s12 with crappy knuckles, stupid suspension, welded diff, and retarded sr swap instead of a common low powered single cam ka, cut springs, and open diff.

I think you've got the right idea,  just keep it man,  and if you're more active on the forum and whatnot maybe you'll gain some more respect from everyone around here,  I love having more people around who love these S12's as much as we do.  So if you don't HAVE to sell it,  keep it,  because at the moment you're not going to get your asking price  :\  and there's nothing we can do about it, you know?  Just keep it and continue to enjoy it if you can,  that's what it's all about!  :grinwink:

I have spend over more then 10k on my S12 Grand Prix but would never sell it for less.

I love that car and S12's are becoming more and more valued in my country. The prices go up too.

GLWS I do understand your pov.

VG30_S12Nov 16, 2011, 11:38 am · #28

Ami weird for saying that if i had 10k, id totally spend it ether buying a grand prix or id spend it turning mine into one(which tbh I'm not too far)

cutter67Nov 16, 2011, 3:45 pm · #29

i have been following this thread and find it very interesting. i buy and sell a lot of cars it is my passion and i dont really care what they are. i have been doing this since i was 16 so over the last 35 years i hope i learned some things about buying and selling cars. this is what i feel is wrong with this sell. first you are dealing with a modified car and a car that everyone is not looking for which is two strikes the third strike is you have too much money in it which everyone has already said. thru the whole thread the seller has stated he would take a trade and he said that in his ad.. he also said he is bored with it which happens to all of us. if the seller did his homework he would know he was upside down in the car and the only way to get out from under it is take a big hit or go for the trade he should of stressed the trade. this how my ad would read for this car to get rid of it

1986 Nissan 200sx

I have 1986 nissan 200sx this is a rear wheel drive car with a 5spd with a lot of updates
looking for interesting trades
text or call [phone removed]

four good pictures of car

make sure you wash and clean car good i dont care if you are selling a beater or something nice. you have to get people to call and ask about the car and come look at it dont put too much information in ad make them call for it. when you start saying things like drifting or listing everything you did to it will turn off 98% of the public. showing pictures of beating on the car takes care of another 1.5%. when people approach you with a trade look hard at it. say to youself how easy will this be to sell. like someone might offer you a 1996 4 door honda accord which would be a lot easier to sell because it appeals to a much larger customer base. the name of the game is get people in front of car so you can sell them on it....  just my thoughts

Your car is the only one I would pay 7k for out of all the s12's lol I know that's a lowball offer especially after seeing your build thread but but yours is the only one I can see going for that much or even more....

To the OP glws bro but I'd keep it if I were you but then I'm biased towards s12's so take that for what it's worth....

You want a legit offer? I'll trade my CA18DET for your S12. I will do this. The question is, will you?

jimbrowniiiNov 30, 2011, 6:27 pm · #34

No thanks, I've already got a spare sr20det now.

SchizophrenicMCNov 30, 2011, 6:29 pm · #35

But that isn't a CA18DET.

Anyway, there's your OBO. You ask me, I'd be taking the loss on it, but it's my best offer.

jimbrowniii on 05:08:07 PM / 30-Nov-11 I'm a little sad to see how worthless some of you guys feel your cars are..

We dont feel that our cars are worthless, i dont even know where you are getting that from. There is just no market for these cars as they are not well known... its a fact that almost 9 times out of ten people would choose a stock AE86 or 240 over an modded s12.  You can fight what the market has a demand for but your going to be losing money either way. We are not saying your car has not had alot of time and effort put into it and we are not trying to fight you, you just dont really seem like you want to sell it. You dont want any info or advise from other knowledgeable people that is fine.

Good luck with selling your car.
nismo_200sxDec 1, 2011, 1:22 am · #37

so wait your tired of seeing the same crap at drift events yet you put an sr in it? i sense some contradiction in this. put the price at 3k and you will have plenty of offers on selling it around here. and 3k is sort of a high estimate. its like putting a lamborghini engine into a delorean its still just a delorean.

I gotta disagree because when you first posted it and people told you it wouldn't sell for that you tried defending the price....If you never intended to get that then you wouldn't have posted it for that much but I digress glad to see your keeping it.
