So i live in WY and i just got a really clean s12 from a guy who has had it since 86! I will post some pics later. I have already been learning a lot and right now i am trying to get it worthy of some miles. A few years ago i had a 280z and was glad to have a good place to find parts through victoria british. So what seems to be a good place to get parts besides the local parts store?
I go to school full time and have a full time job so it is hard to find time to spend here finding information but what i have found so far has been great. The car is going to be my daily driver for now but i would like to turn it into a track rat one day.
So far i have noticed it starves for fuel under turning. I have an issue right about 3grand when it falls on its face which seems to be ignition related and it started after i washed under the hood. I also dont feel like i can trust what the oil pressure reads. The rear brakes start to drag when the car comes to a stop i am guessing a porportioning valve issue.
Overall i am very happy to have to car because it seems like a great place to start and i like that it is more rare than the 240sx. I am glad to have this site as a resource and am looking foward to talking to some you about a common passion. Oh and i went to wyotech and turned a wrench as a profession for about 3 years so hopefully i can give some advice too.

got a clean 84 turbo. im going to have lots questions
welcome to the club. and looking forward to seeing pic of your turbo
I bought my super minty one owner 1988 SE-V6 in Fort Collins, CO about a year and a half ago... Now we know where they hide! To the mountain range!!
When you say "track rat", which kind of track duty do you have in mind with that statement? Always makes me cringe when someone nabs a really clean Turbo or SE model and wants to drift it.
Usually the fuel problem you're talking about is a failing fuel pump. It's a common problem with the aging Turbo model. Try replacing that and going from there. I would recommend a Walbro 190 liter-per-hour pump, as anything larger will overrun your stock regulator. A 190 will also be more than enough for greater power down the line. It's not an exact direct fit but close enough where some zipties and common sense will get the job done. While you are at it, do a fuel pump relay on it. It's the same process that S13/S14 people do, so you can probably find fuel pump rewire how-to's on here and other sites.
I would add a picture if I could figure out how but the part at the bottom that says attachments and other options has nothing about attachments so I guess I will just reply right now
When I say track rat I mean I would like to make it worthy of repeated hard lapping on a road course and maybe a little auto cross. Getting sideways is fun but I agree that the car is worth more than that. Right now I have just put stock brakes on it and plan on doing a full tune up just to get a good base line to start from. I would like to keep that stock power plant for now and focus on things like an intercooler and getting all the leaks taken care of. But all that stuff is awhile down the road. Rest assured I am not planning on destroying the car it will be my daily driver so it must handle the crap roads in Wyoming, oh and it might have to see -20 a few time a winter so it will have to run well too.
About the fuel problem it only happens under a hard turn to me it really seems like the fuel is just flowing away from the pump to the side. It does not happen under straight acceleration even when rather low on fuel. It only happens when a get on the throttle mid corner when exploring lateral grip and when it is less than half a tank. If it is full or past half there are no problems at all.

The best way to display your pics on the forums is to go to photobucket and upload them there.
www.photobucket.com
After you make an account you can upload your photos. After you upload your photos there will be an img code below the pictures. Just copy and paste the img codes of the pictures you want into your post and the photos should display.
Thanks for the help. I am new to posting to a forum if that was not painfully obvious yet. So here are just a couple of pictures that I took the other day right before doing some work. I hope get it cleaned up a little bit this weekend and take some more.

Car looks good but would be better after a bath lol welcome and happy wrenching...
Even without a bath that looks to be a really straight exterior. I don't see any noticeable dents or bigger scratches. My 85 turbo is a carbon copy of this one. That darker blue seemed to be a pretty popular Mk1 color in general, especially on the hatches. You should post some pictures of the interior as well when you get a chance. Show off that blue interior goodness most of us dark blue s12 owners got stuck with!
beautiful car great starter keep it coming with the pics
So just got done with a tune up and finally got it clean. The drivers door is the worst part of the interior most of the rest is in really good shape. I really am enjoying the car! I hope to get started on suspension next. I have think I will put lowering springs in it at some point but I hope to start with bushings struts and shocks. Enjoy!
Joe

Wheels are very clean; I never seem to be able to get all the crap out of mine. How do you do it?
Damn that thing is clean def calendar worthy looks really good after a bath. Couldn't help but notice is that and invisible bra on the front of your good?
if i were you i wouldnt do a thing to it. i would search high and low for a door panel and keep it stock. what you own is very rare in that condition and i would hate to see it chopped up
Thanks for the all the compliments. The pictures do not tell the whole story. There is a lot of small hail dents in the hood and the paint is really only in fair condition for the most part.
There is not a clear bra on the car there was a vinyl one on it when I bought the car because it was used as a tow car behind an RV.
So if the car is so rare how much do people think it is worth? The odometer stopped at 58K and the owner kept hand written notes and claims about 110K from what I have seen that seems accurate to me. From what I can tell it has never been wrecked but it did take a hard hit under the driver's seat right on the frame rail. There is no rust anywhere since it has been in Colorado or Wyoming its whole life the dry climate does wondrous things for cars. Well except all the window and door seals need to be replaced since they have dried out and shrunk.
For the wheels I just used some armor all wheel cleaner. It comes in a spray bottle and I just used a lot and let it sit for a few minutes and then used a pressure washer. I did not even scrub them.
So what about if I was to do a proper restore? Then what would it be worth?
sometimes when something is rare does not mean it is worth a lot of money even with prices going up on these cars they are not a easy sell when you get above $2000.00 but there are buyers out there for good clean examples. i just bought a turbo model a few months ago for $1,500.00 but it doesn't look as nice as yours. i think it is easier to find a SE than it is to find a unmolested Turbo model.
it comes down to what is the car worth to you
joemarr, your 84 turbo is beautiful, i love the color hope your build goes well keep us updated
It even matches your garage! Seriously, don't kid yourself. That thing is sexy!
Very good looking. Please keep it original!
Good find dude! As far as parts, OEM-Surplus.com is a good source for OEM parts for our cars. Nissanpartszone.com is great for looking up parts, they even have some once in a while. There's a Nissan dealer in WV that bought a warehouse full of older parts too. As for used parts, there are many peeps in the Wanted to Sell Parts section.
I was able to get "New" door panels for my 84 turbo from OEM-Surplus, along with many other parts at a fraction of original cost.
