Ive just picked up a 1984 Datsun 200sx from a used car dealer that didn't know what he had.
Its currently running CA20E, 93xxx miles. 1 owner and always garage kept. only a small chip in the passenger mirror. Other then that. It looks like it just drove off the lot new.
Im planning on putting a KA24DE in it eventually and then turbocharging it even more eventually.
But other then an engine swap. I've come from an Eclipse to this. So i dont know much about any upgrades to the Chassis, exhaust, or whatever mods are possible on the CA20e until i can do the swap.
Here's a few pics.

Let me know what you think.

Hello from Ohio
GhoSt on 11:23:34 AM / 11-Jan-13Im planning on putting a KA24DE in it eventually and then turbocharging it even more eventually. I've come from an Eclipse to this. Upgrading your ca20e is like upgrading a computer from 1995. Skip directly past the ca20e, other then basic maintenance, and go straight to the ka24de swap. The ka24de is a great basic swap by the way (I replaced my ca18et with one a couple years ago and love it). In the mean time I'd focus on upgrading your suspension if money isn't super tight.
Also, the s12 is not the s13. It doesn't really have much of an aftermarket, especially for your rear suspension since you got a solid rear axle instead of the independent rear suspension most s12's came with from the factory (84 ca20e's were the only models that got a sra). Don't let the lack of aftermarket support discourage you though. Over the years cs12 members have found lots of interchangeable parts from other vehicles that will work on our s12s with often only minimal modifications needed. The more popular and modern Nissan 4 cylinders (ca18det, ka24de and sr20det) all more or less bolt into the s12 as well.
Congrats on the purchase by the way. Especially considering your location it looks to be in very good shape.
Thanks. I've looked around and seen there's not much.
Suspension was already a big thing that i was going to start on though.
Have any suggestions on where to start?
I believe i seen someone on here modified the stock s13 setup to fit on the the s12 chassis.
Basic suspension set up: sw20 (mr2) front struts, foxbody mustang rear struts.. KYB provides both at decent prices, you can try to find someone selling CM lowering springs because I think production is slowing down or stopped. Besides congrats on your purchase, the 12 looks immaculate. If I were you I'd try to keep it as original as possible! Anyway welcome!
Don't worry about that. The body and interior are going to be perfect and stock forever. Besides the rims of course, want something that stands out more there.
Will these be adequate for the front? Haven't looked into the back yet.

Also another thing I needed to know. How hard is it to get a LSD on here?
Yeah! I'd go for some nice 80's multi-piece wheels small diameter maybe 15's with a clean tire fitment. Do you mind letting me know how much you paid for her?
just about 1400
All trade for the fwd Eclipse. Got 600$ back.
Haha nice! There's your suspension + extra!
Well about half of it is going to fix my wifes car as she just dosn't do anything to maintain it.
Running on no brake fluid. Fuel injector throwing a misfire in cylinder 1. needs new plug wires/new plugs.
I looked at here when at broke down and just.... are you kidding me?
Ah, I see.. Yeah take care of the necessities first, not much to take care of anyway
will 16s fit?
15s just seem a tad small.
15 imo look the best but yes 16's will fit and I think we have a few members running 17's they look too large though to me anyway....
Are the black ones in your sig 15s?
Those look effing perfect.
yes they are, they are 15x8's
very clean car! i think 16s are a good fit 15s seem a bit small
Well that was easy.

If you go 16's, don't get a beefy ass tire lol 15's will allow a nice tire size yet remain an old school look. besides there's more room to go lower with 15's
I love those wheels that you have on there now. Badass S12, welcome dude!

or is it black
Its the stock Thunder Black. With the orange pin striping on the side and taillights.
Hello "again" from Indiana;) car looks to be in good condition!! Maybe we can get them together at some point.
Planned on it Kenny. Was thinking Fort Wayne. Right in between us unless i'm mistaken
Plus there will be 2 supras and maybe an mr2 with me.
its black and red

but the red kinda looks orange-ish to me
It has been redone by the previous owner to orange. The tail lights have orange around all the lights too. Not sure if it was like that stock or not but it is now.
I assume he did it to match the clean orange interior.
This is what I was told btw. It may have all been red and just faded for all I know.
haha red seats would be nice! willing to trade for tan turbo seats? lol
burritomannn on 03:05:21 PM / 21-Jan-13haha red seats would be nice! willing to trade for tan turbo seats? lol
No thanks lol.
Does anyone know what rims those are in the pictures in the first post?
stock 84 rims? I've seen them on 84's alot...nonturbo 84's
15's are a proper fit for an S12 if you want to look period-correct...

Lower...
Even 14's work if you drop it low enough...
16's work but like J said, you need to be careful with your tire sizing. You're gonna find cheaper and nicer wheel options in 15's IMO, but there are some nice 16" options.
Also, some of the questions you asked show me you have a lot of reading to do... especially with suspension. There are a couple routes to take, building a sleeve kit (requires fabrication skills), or using S13 COILOVERS, but S13 stock suspension WILL NOT FIT due to the springs being too wide for our strut towers... which is why the coilovers WILL work. Anyways, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and there are a LOT of stickied/pinned topics in each tech section that you should read through before you ask too many questions about obvious things like engine swaps, suspension, and omg especially limited slip diffs. Just do a LOT of reading, because there aren't many aftermarket parts directly made for our cars (but there are SOME!), but there are a LOT of workarounds and many of those let us use S13/S14 stuff.
Good luck and welcome to Club-S12
The little bits of orange around the tail lights? If you're talking about each square being outlined by a small orange border, than that's stock, comes on all the MK1's. But yeah as for wheels, I personally prefer oldschool Riken/Enkei mesh rims on the old Datsuns and Nissans. The stock turbo meshies (can be seen on my car) are 15 or 16" I believe. And depending on how low you want the car, you can even put it on 14"s, which is what I'm doing. I'll have some new pics of it up after I put on my new rims and get my S13 suspension setup going. Megan Racing makes an adjustable coilover set if you're willing to swap to S13 control arms.
The stock turbo rims are 15s
