Hi everybody,

To make a long story short my name is Tristen and I am 29 years old.
I have been in love with drifting since I can remember.
Got an AE86 driftspec and now own a Nissan S12.

Since the AE86 is going to be sold (hopefully someday) I want to continue further with the Nissan S12.
Never had a Nissan before and I actually want to make it a frankenstein project.

It's road-tax free because the car's from 1986 and so is my AE86.

I got an S13 Uras AIT RACING body kit ready to put on.
All I need now is more BHP - COILOVERS - and a 2way LSD.

Cheers :)

(been testing the S12 for the first time some days ago at Driftsport in the Netherlands)

Welcome to Club-S12! What do you mean by "Frankenstein"?

Okay... with what? ANother Nissan four-cylinder engine, or something out of another car?

I hope you aren't thinking of trying to stick a 4A-GE in there lol. It would be severely underpowered because the S12 weighs more.

OOOOH no sir!!!

I got a 4aGZE in the AE86.

But... I am talking more about the outside of the S12 - the first thing I want to do is put a T25 on the S12...
And then get the exterior look of S13 (kinda) (at least the front with either maybe in the future a S14 hood and or S14 or PS13 lights).

I hope to try and get the Uras S13 bodykit fixed on the S12 someday soon but we will see what happens :)
Cheers.

Ok then some things to consider...

T25 is only a mild improvement. Get a T25G from an SR20DET. The "G" makes a big difference in the compressor wheel size. More usable boost. And it will bolt right onto your stock exhaust manifold.

People have run S13 front bumpers with varying results... if you do proper body work and modifications to the rest of the car, it looks ok. A couple people have used S13 SILVIA-style aftermarket bumpers to get a drift-style kit look. I'm not a fan but it looks like it's proper for that style. That Uras S13 bodykit you're interested in is the kind that can be modified to work on an S12 for that drift-kit look. Just be already on coilovers and adjustable height rears with some good wheels before you do that or it will look weird. Anyways there's a lot of other things you can (and should) do first before you body kit the car.

S13 Silvia projector headlights have been tried on our cars before. I know, I know... you would *think* that they would be similar, but the S12 is actually a more squared off car at the corners and the S13 lights look very "added", as if they don't belong. There has never been an S13 Silvia light conversion done on an S12 (of which this has only been done three other occasions I remember) that looked like it belonged on the car. The difference in the slight curves and corners of an S13 vs. an S12 are enough to distinguish the difference between 80's and 90's styling.  As far as S14 lights go... no way. You're taking a car with lots of straight lines and angles and trying to fit stuffs that are curvy (even a little bit) and that always looks weird. There are other custom light choices you could make that would keep with the design of the car's exterior better in my opinion. And having been here since we started, I've seen my share of weird and essentially bad conversions.

Do a lot of reading on here... figure out your performance mods first before moving onto extreme visual modifications. Basically, get to know the car well before you try to change too many things, that's my advice.

I'm sorry man but if u want s13ish styling why not buy an s13/14? I'm all fine with bodykits but if I recall the s14 hood is wider than ours. So I don't think that'll work. Its not like slapping a s14 front on the s13 or something where all u need is fenders/hood/lights/bumper that just wont work here. Your looking at insane amounts of body work, fitment trial and error. Probably more than you think.
