Hi Everyone, Am new into the S12 scene and into this forum, Am from québec, canada so English is my second language so it's possible that sometimes my sentences seem a little bit werd. I spoke to Jays12 and the told me to post my build up here to introduce myself and my car to you guys.. So here we go, feel free to comment.

The car:
I bought an 1985 200sx shell from a guy who had it since 2008. The car has been stored since 07. The last owner had done some works on the car frame and my eyes hurt when i saw those shitty shock towers job. The guy tried to fit some S13 coilsover in the rear...When i pick the car he was looking like trash, without engine and the body was a little ruff. The car came with an s14 coilsover kit already fitted in the front with the s13 knuckles and tension rods, i also got a bride seat and the front mount intercooler with 2 slim electric fans. So here's the photos.

Photos from last owner:

Looks good... towers seem a little, tall?

I would reinforce the bracket that's on the swing arm too, it's not designed to take spring weight.

Welcome! That is one huge project you have on your hands - you are a braver man than I!!
BTW your english/grammer are fine.

Wow, so that does take rear coilovers to the max and answers tons of rear s13 coilover questions.

haha yeah they're tall because the coilsover of the S14 are like 6 inches more tall than the S13 one...Anyways i will brace the shit up that will be very nice!

Thanks guys for the comments it's appreciated .!

Update : Dropped the subframe today, there was A LOT of crap on it, i washed everything and i got a suprise, the subframe is solid mount :yay!:  the last owner did that.. I got my new end link for my sway bar and some polyeuretane insert for the mounting . My left lower control arm is very rusted, for now i don't know what i will do with that, maybe some custom LCA with ajustable ball end. I finished the day with a little of paint on the differancial, look like new. I also got my battery and my short NRG hub. Steering wheel is now ordered. Pics to come probably tomorrow with somes progress with the wiring! The engine is comming this week hehe!

RB25sx - SLPR on 05:06:35 AM / 07-Mar-14Whoa dude, I was just trying to express some concern for your safety. Cages are sweet and all, but their entire purpose is to save your life. I actually prefer cageless cars for a number of reasons, but it limits me to smaller tracks or streeting.

Good luck with the rest of your build, and I hope you never have to test your cage in real life.

-dan

I understand your point but you see pictures on internet nothing about see the work in real life. It's not hard to welds shit. The car is rock solid i flipped it on the side and nothing moved. Anyways what else i can do...all is welded and painted so it will be that.

Looks good, pearl lime green?

BTW, I wasn't bashing or anything, but I'm an industrial welder, professionally. You can tell if a weld has penetrated by appearence, but typically one would do a weld test on scrap and then bisect it to check how the weld ended up. Other methods are ultrasonic (used by most shops and AFAIK SCCA and FIA inspectors) or x-ray (not usually used anymore).
But like I said, a safety cage is just that, for safety. It's not something that should be taken lightly.

I cutted a weld, it's about 80% penetrated. It should do the job. I will consider to replace my welder machine. It looks that it's not powered enough
