I currently got a job at a local used car dealership as a porter and one of the perks is that we can drive any car on the lot (within reason) and someone traded in a evo x MR with 6,xxx miles on it. So out of curiosity because I've never driven one, I got the keys and took her for a spin and OMG I'm in love I want an evo x MR now the car feels alot smaller than it looks and it handles like a fucking go cart it feels lighter than the wifes talon and the power is fucking awesome! I will own one for sure. I've always wanted to r34 skyline gtr but I have come to the realization that I will probably never own one.  So the Evo x MR would be the next best thing I know its not in the nissan family and they are 2 totally different cars aside from them being turbocharged and awd. But I found the replpacement for the skyline that I am willing to live with. I going to start doing sales soon and hopefully I will own one sooner than later....

Edit: The only thing I don't like about this particular car is that it was an autotragic it has paddle shifters and the manumatic shifter but in the defense of this set up the manumatic feels and shifts like a 6 speed (oh its a 6 speed btw) the paddle shifters (flappy paddle gearbox *Jeremy Clarkson Voice*) are gay the feel cheaply made and don't shift when you want them too lol there's a delay with the manumatic or sequential shifter its there immediatly (sp).

Of course the resident Mitsu guy would fall for a Mitsu. What else is new?

sideways_s12Apr 27, 2013, 9:58 pm · #3

lol what can I say this car is tits I like it better than the sti I drove and that was modded...

SchizophrenicMCApr 27, 2013, 10:35 pm · #4

Well, the Evo X is better than the current WRX, but I attribute that to the WRX not trying hard enough.

I think up here in the pnw you could pick up a evo for cheaper than a subie.....also you see way more subies around....i love the 4g engine though....its a beast.

I forgot to mention....I drove like a 2010 or 2011 wrx once and it felt heavy, especially upfront....which made me weary of understeer so I was always a bit worried pushing into corners.

The Evo gives me a full blown boner.  Especially the X.  That front fascia looks like it'll eat babies!

On that note though, I don't like how the motor is set up like a FWD, but the AWD system in the Evo is extremely advanced.

I still love my Subaru though, and I'm getting used to the AWD.  I can throw it in to a corner faster than I ever could with my SE-V6.  I got to drive a buddy's 05 WRX, he has a tune on it that's supposed to make 280whp and something like 300+wtq, but it felt slow.  Especially when compared it to Colin's RB26 beast.

sideways_s12May 2, 2013, 3:10 am · #21

Yeah the x is awesome! And it feels lighter than it looks I threw it into a corner and it just ate that shit up I wasnt expecting it to grab the way it did and go in as quick as it did i kinda puckered a bit till the exit I was like oh shit i fucking love this car and it has plenty of power for me in Stock form... I will own ome one day although it probably wont be the mr because i prefer a clutch five speed rather tham the clutchless 6 ...

Why ditch the R34 idea? They've just recently become legal for import here in Canada. An R34 GTT can be had for less than $8500 and an RB26 is only around $2k. Forgive me as I'm not aware of U.S. import laws and regulations.

SchizophrenicMCMay 8, 2013, 8:23 pm · #23

Because in the US, thanks to Mercedes Benz of North America, circa 1984, you can't import non-federalized cars until they're exempt from EPA and DOT regulations. That is, until they're 25 years old.

August of next year is when the first 1989 R32 becomes street legal in the US, and therefore import legal. Some R33s, a number in the high double or low triple digits, are legal because of crash-testing and modifications performed by the now-defunct (thank the FBI) company, Motorex, but the necessary modifications can't be performed without licensing and the unreleased data from Motorex. R34s won't be legal until 2024 at the earliest.

sideways_s12May 9, 2013, 3:25 am · #24

^^^this. I was thinking of importing one a long time ago from canada tho so it was a thought...

SchizophrenicMCMay 9, 2013, 11:15 am · #25
This article from This Is Race goes into depth, with citations, about how impossible it is to legally have an R34 in the US.

Better to forget the idea completely. Besides, R32s are classier and sooner to be legal. (ie next August)
