The wiring write-up is laid out to splice into wires in the engine bay, which are the colors described for the S12 at least. It's advisable to use the S12 harness wherever available, so you don't have to fuck with wire placement as much. Mind you I just did this swap myself earlier this year. I recommend using the wiring diagram for whatever year engine you're installing, to cross-reference any details you're unclear on.

Don't run hockey pucks though. That's just lazy. S13/S14 KA/SR engine mounts will bolt up to the S12 crossmember and the KA will sit correctly. I'm sure you have some of those mounts lying around somewhere.

Right, I just put an S14 KA into an S12 and got it running in, I wanna say July. The gauges and fuel pump control are in the engine bay.

And S13/14 mounts are squishy? I think you overestimate the capabilities of hockey pucks. For that matter, your drift brake tells me you are exactly the kind of company I don't want to keep.
