alright after several days of searching, measuring, e-mailing and thinking, i have come up with a suspention setup im going to use, i will be switching over to s13 hubs and brakes up front, and then installing tein HE drift suspention built for the s13 on all four corners, the front will be straight forward, but the rear will require medium/heavy fabracation, the whole setup is running me 1200$ but should be well worth it, i will be posting pics of the install and later, the drifting ;)..... if you have any advice or insight i would love to hear it, unless your just going to be negative, lol.. :boobs: damn shes a looker
btw, anyone interested in brand new rear konis email me lol, i was originaly going to try to get konis on it so i could use it at driftnation in canada, but that didnt happen (it was today, and really fun) so now i can do it right.....

tein HE's on an s12
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Jun 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
if anyone cares, i got my invoice and they will be here next tuesday, so look for the install pics in two weeks, if anyone is interested ill write a how-to..... :mike:
There are a number of s12's here in Australia that have s13 coilovers, hubs etc installed, e.g. Neb on this forum has had his for ages. Its is quite a straight foward install.

interested!
...will this work for the solid rear axle guys too?
its not a straight forward install for the rear, the rears will require some creative work
:mike:
done and done, ok everyone the teins are in, the back was not easy, heavy fabbing, but there in and let me just say im very excited, ive had the car for about a month, i gutted the rear, put tein HE's in all four corners, brembo sloted rotors and hawk pads up front, and for that short list it out handles my s13 already, and ive put alot of time into that car, the whole car is still a bit mushy, but im working on it, anyways anyone interested in the pics email me... its a bit of work and money but this car is an untapped goldmine, its like an AE86 that will take a real motor, ca18det sr20det.... :burnout:
P.S. for anyone wondering what "tein's HE" suspention is, its there suspention setup for drifting, which they only make for 3 cars, s13, s14, late rx7's
Congrats on the install!
I sent you a PM regarding the rear konis. You can also e-mail me at [email removed]
Define mushy ...
Likely with the super stiff coilovers (assuming that if they are adjustable, you have them adjusted properly)
you've just forced a lot of other weaknesses to come out. Do you have your strut towers braced? (preferably to the firewall) and the rears?
PST urethane bushings will remove a lot of mush too.
If that's still not stiff enough, time for subframe connectors.
you gotta post some pix of how you hooked up the rear suspension... its something that i've thought about, but the 12 and 13 rears are so different! did you have to use any of the 13's parts or did you just weld on custom brackets? i must seee!! how stiff of a ride are the he coilovers?
sorry i was in taiwan for a week, finally! someone interested in my hard work! lol, basicly in the rear i modified the bottom shock mounts then put custom mounting plates up top, ill email you all the pics and info if youd like :bomb: just pm or email me
I e-mailed you.
Hey Bud, Im Pretty keen on having a look at your set up, so could you please E-mail me at [email removed]
Cheers
It is good to hear that all or part of the S13 rear can be modded to fit the S12...post some pics soon man...8)
alright i dont want to be one of those people who always says they will post pics, but then never do, so here are SOME pics, i know there not great but i was in a rush sorry. this was done with the tie-rod adapter made by A-1 racing which JasterM5 took the time to get made, so a big thanks to JasterM5 and A-1 for making a VERY good product.

im interested in any questions/comments, i will finish taking the pictures when i have the back wheels off later this week
Let's see the rears!!!
Indeedy, a few of us have already done the fronts before so we really want to see the rear end. I'll probably never put coilovers in the rear of mine since i have good shocks and springs anyways but i still want to have a look. I'm looking at putting a pair of S13 coilovers (and most of the rest of the S13 front suspension) into my KE70 drift car. Use an S13 crossmember i have laying around to mount the SR20 easily and then the arms will fit easily and the hubs wil fit easily and i'll only have to adapt the camber tops and the castor rods, track isn't an issue cos it'll have big flares anyways :)
yeah i will, sorry ive been very busy and traveling, when im home drifting is funner then taking the rear apart to take pictures  i only shot the fronts because i had to put clips i didnt have in that hold the brake hose to the coilover... but now that i got my server up and hosting pictures, i think ill get to it this week, i still have to paint the custom mounts i put in also before you can see it lol, again, all i did basicly was mod the bottom shock mount then cut a hole stright down and put a tube with a top on it in and weld it in, just imagine standing over your shock mount in the rear, and using a hole-saw to bore stright down, then sliding a tube with a top in and welding it all the way up the side to the wheel well....
Hehe that is true, i have alot of little things i want to do on the car i have been putting off for similar reasons.
I can imagine the rear end, sounds easier than i expected, i already did a IRS conversion which was also easier than i expected, how strong is your new tower things? Need to brace it? I need to make braces for the front end, if the S12 is anything like the S13 (and it is, very much so) the front strut towers will start to part company with the rest of the car after prolonged drifting.
Yah, I can imagine strength being an issue one you meddle with the shock towers. Plus since you've cut it, you gotta worry about rusting and if you do it wrong, it might mess up your whole suspension geometry.
I hope it works well for you, I'll await for pics, let us know how the car is after! :) If all goes well, I might look into getting Tein HG's. :D
thanks for your conceren, but many hours and mesurements for many nights were had before i preformed this, i would say it is a great deal stronger then the oem setup, i have achived my goal of creating more oversteer, and am very happy with the results, as for rust, thats what paint is for... lol
