I dont know if I should be happy or cry.
I was heading to the store across town and a guy in an ele was ripping all over the place. when you come off this one highway and onto the other road it does a hard right, then a soft left and a second hard right before you merge. I went into the corner at about 110 (km/h) and then got into 3rd to power through the soft left. Once at the very hard right I went into second, by this time I had cought up to the crazy ele and was on his bumper. I knew he would try and power out of the corner so I made sure to stay in second to keep my revs high. As soon as we came out of the corner we both floored it. I was still behind him and we were guing up a hill at about a 10% grade (not sure how acurate that was it seems like about 25 degrees rise). The stupid thing was that I couldnt seem to pass him. it was 2 lanes and my lane was open for a while, he never pulled away and just as I was pulling to pass I had to shift and then got a slight gap between us. I would close that then have to shift again.
The whole time I tried to convince my self that the car does have 160 hp and 160 ft lbs of tq, and "i-Vtec", but I still thought I should have go past him. It made me mad coz I should have my IC hooked up and have my leaky manifold fixed. Then I could get at least 7 psi boost instead of just 4.5 (on a good day) and have the cooling effects of an FMIC.
So You guys let me know if I should be crying or glad I kept up.
SECOND story:
After my big loss to the ele on the way home I see a porsche carerra. Its an older one looks like the pic below. So that could be aroudn 85 ish. He was at the front of the line for the light, I was right behind him. I expected him to take right off after the light went green. So I was surprized to be right on his bumper. That was enough to make him show me who was boss, so he floors it ( I can only guess thats what he did). I am also flooring it, if we wer racing inthe 1/4 mile at the rate he was pulling away I would have lost by about 3 or 4 car lengths. BUT then he shifted, it was so slow that I had enough time to catch right back onto his bumper, he floored it again and this time got about 1 car length away before we were both shifting again, By this time I was into a corner with a posted speed of 50 and we were both doing about 100. Also this is the same moment I hit a bump and here my daughter in the back seat start throwing up all over the place. I was in a hurry coz the other store I wanted to get to was closing in 15 minutes. Needless to say I stopped speeding and the porsche kept going. My doughter had 2 more rounds of puking before she was done. So I headed home, and the puke is still in the car wiating for me to clean it up right now.
This is what it looke dlike. Same color and all

I guess I should be pleased with that result, those things in stock trim make just over 200 hp in good condition. But the driver sucked or he would have been a lot farther away.

my 200 VS Honda Element.........
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Jun 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
I don't want to offend you, but I don't think it's very responsible for you to be driving like that with your daughter in the car.
calgarians...
I figured somebody would make a comment like that.
Honestly its not responsible for anyone to be driving like that no matter who is in the car. If I was going to weaving in and out of traffic I wouldnt have done it, but in a straight line not much is going to happen.
Not that it makes it ok, but I could see my self doing the same thing...the next generation of race car drivers has to start somewhere, why not with Dad... 8)
either that or she will have panic attacks in the back seat of cars from now on
I wish my car would keep up with more than bicycles :(
Nice run(s) anyways i guess :)
I have a friend with a s14 and i can kinda keep up with him so im pretty happy about that. I don't really feel im down on power. But that kinda sucks lossing to a honda suv. I feel your pain... yeah i took the kids i was babysitting one for a spin in my 200sx tail sliding and all. the fat kid was sitting in the back so i got more traction than normal.
mY DAUGHTER IS usually in the back seat saying "Go faster daddy". Or "Daddy, you WINNED him!!"
Sometimes she will say "daddy you should go slow today". I am pretty sure that children can see things that I can not, so when my daughter says I need to slow down I dont question it. It really is time to slow down. Sometimes she says it when I am doing the speed limit, so I say "but I am already going slow". She will then say "ohhhh", then a few seconds later tell me to slow down again. In cases like that I always listen to her.
I have never seen an element (we get the Honda CRV down here as our softroader sort of car) but from the quick glance around the net it does a 16.6@84 quarter mile for the 2wd version...admitedly in a roll on it'd be much different scene as the Elements probably substantial mass is already moving, but the 84 mile an hour is an indication of how fast it goes....which isn't very. Your car should have killed it shouldn't it? My CA20e gazelle ran roughly 17 flat over the quarter and could roll on with things like preludes and celicas of the same period (provided you compentsated for it's crap throttle response hehe). I'd be dissapointed or looking for a problem. Do you have a quarter time for your car by the way?
i will have 1/4 times by the end of the summer.
i did have the car with 2 kids in it and the back loaded up. but i wouldv expected more. I dont have more than 4 psi of boost though because of my leaky exhuast
Ah well the weight will count against your little engine quite alot, i'll be interested to see how my car goes over the quarter without my 85kg mate in the passenger seat, see how much difference that extra makes to my times. With him in the passenger seat and on street tyres i ran 14.2@104 but there are cars around here running as fast as mid 13s at that mph. Get rid of all the excess weight and give it another go :)
There is a guy at the local drift club who has stripped his car even for road use. Minus everything he thinks he doesn't need he has saved 75kg and still drives it daily...
LOL, my daughter is the same way. She finds it boring if I don't drive around like an idiot. There times were she specifically wants to "ride in daddys car". I don't race but I'm spirited about it. She really seems to love it, noise, ruff ride, and all. When shes old enough I'm putting her through drivers ed and making her auto-x. She'll prob love it though. I wouldn't worry about the element thing. They aren't actaully as heavey as you'd expect. Damn thign is mostly plastic (not really safe). They are prob as fast as a stock SE V6. The key would be that they won't corner for a damn. I have beaten many a car because I will take the corners much faster than they dare.
