This Section Is Really Sluggish

i preferr the stripped out, ultra light, street racer look :)
You know you can get nice speakers that are really light ... I have a pair of Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XR500 speakers and they weigh less than 1 lb/speaker (less than our stock speakers) ... Replace the stock amplifier with a more powerful but lighter amplifier (i.e. Phoenix Gold Octane-R R2.5:2) to save another couple of pounds and gain a lot more power for the speakers. Then replace the stock tape deck with a cheap aftermarket head unit to save maybe 1/2 lbs. ;)
Even making your vehicle lighter can involve upgrading your audio system ;)
Next time I'm at my parent's house, I could weigh all the stock components and tell you exactly how much weight upgrading your system with these components would save you :)
KFC-XR500 pair (1.62 lbs, 0.81 lbs. each)
PG R2.5:2 (6.33 lbs.)
Aftermarket HU (~4 lbs.)
RCA Interconnects (20 feet = 0.75 lbs low-end Phoenix Gold RCAs)
8 gauge Power/Ground Wire (25 ft = 2.25 lbs.)
Total = ~15 lbs
I'm guessing that would be close to what the stock system weighs altogether ... Except it would play CDs (MP3s if you get an MP3 player) and sound better ;)
15lbs can't beat -15lbs with a totally stripped audio section..
but fortunately James...I like audio..ahhah

I agree lol but i can't live without my beats lol so what i did was (since my battery is in the back already) i just made it so when i go out with intentions to race there are 2 clips and 3 screws i have to undo and then i can pull out my whole sub enclosure/ amp!!! works good for me gotta have my tunes!!!
I don't know why more people don't post here. I know the only thing i wanted in a car was a plain old CD player. Mind you I got a 4 disc in dash CD changer in there now (from my birthday). It's nice to not have to keep changing CD's or have to go in the back to change them except every now and then i have to eject the CD cartridge and reinsert it for some dumb reason.
you'd think I'd be in here more often...
with a nice Head Unit and looking to upgrade to a higher end one. and with sq subs and a good amp and looking to get better speakers and all..haha
but to tell you the truth..I'm a noob at this stuff...so I dunno hwo much I could really contribute.
You need an amplifier with gain controls that aren't broken ;)
