I own a 1985 200sx with ca20e and agree with many on this site that its just not enough power. I am currently working towards putting a 5.0L in. I know it sounds crazy but it will work with the new front sub frame that I plan on building. Anyone with suggestions please reply.

What sort of 5.0L? Should fit easily, the S12 engine bay is a pretty large place really :) I like the idea, good luck with it.

imagine a wheelstanding, twisting whilst launching S12........nice!

lol don't forget to put wings on ehehehe

sounds fun, you're going to get more than a few raised eyebrows and dropped jaws out of that!

To put something like a 5., you will need more than a beefed up front sub frame. I would suggest a roll cage that ties into all four main suspension links in the car...otherwise you will pop the windshield out faster than you can say it...

I do plan on going with a roll cage in the car. The gas tank is coming out and a fuel cell in the back hatch for extra weight over back tires as I think I will need as much traction as I can get . As for the sub frame it will be going as far back as the back seat with a cross frame under the center of the car. i will keep you informed on the progress and hopefully soon have pictures for you all . This will be the ultimate sleeper!!!

I don't think any car with a roll cage, fuel cell and burbly V8 could ever be considered a sleeper.

Hmm, I think a Mustang II front swap would do the trick. They're pretty cheap now too.

I'm guessing a narrowed 9" diff out back?

Heh, it'll take a lot of $$$ to build a 302 that will pull the front end of an S12.

My Acadian on slicks would very occasionaly pull the front clear of the ground like 1/2" ... didn't really notice until I was watching some videos we took to try and get the times down. That was over 600hp in a 3,200lb car.

I would like to know if anybody knows if the rear end in the ca20e with independant suspension is a limited slip rear end. I am unsure because usually you'll only get one tread mark on the ground without but I seem to get two nice black patches on the ground when i want. Oh and being friday the 13th I was unfortunate to have my driver side front end smoked by a truck

unless someone swapped a LSD in, your S12 would NOT have a limited slip differential

One way to know for sure is to jack up the back end.....and rotate one wheel foward, and if the other rotates foward too....you have LSD. If it rotates the opposite direction......then it's not.

easier way to tell than that :)

rev it up... pop the clutch.. then while flooring the accelerator.. press your other foot hard on the brake...

after the smoke clears, go out and look...

x1 black line = no lsd

x2 black lines = lsd :) :D

Keithdate not saved · #12

That desn't always work.......I've laid down 2 black strips, and my R200 does not have LSD.

SHEPPO3930date not saved · #13

my R180 light both wheels in a straight line, its a freak i rekon, i think jacking the car up is easier! a wet day is a good test, with a tight slow turn, it should single the inside wheel...........but if its a freak like mine you will kick the tail!

just jack her up!

Mr.200date not saved · #14

Any non LSD can lay 2 strips in a straight line

also the tire spin test doesn't always work
