Hello All,

While doing some research into the original Truckster Mod on the net I found this snippet of information at the r31 skyline site.

http://r31skylineclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=9351.0

The guts of it is that you take take the head including dizzy, ECU , MAF and Throttle Body from a U12 pintara (or AU ford corsair I think) CA20 FWD and fit it to a RWD R31 or in our case S12.

Powerchip make a replacement chip for the U12 ECU (I checked this part out) and it is claimed it get a power increase up to 95KW or around 130HP.

I off to the wreckers on the weekend to sus the costs out a bit more but this sound promising. Don't know how the stock CA20E bottom end will hold out but I have one spare so figure it might be worth a try.

Started a new post for this so admin give me a hard time if I stuffed up. :slap:

Cheers

The Stock Ca20E in da U12 pits out like 82kw or 83kw,
so i guess by shovn it on the stock 78kw S12 Ca20e would beome 83kw.

Are the manifolds different at all-FWD vs RWD????

The computer is different i know that much, because the U12 has a self diagnostic tool.

the ca20e in the s12 has a self diagnostic ecu too.

Not in the 3 i had it didn't maybe the later silver tops are different but in the earlyier models i had they definitely weren't.

In the US all the S12s over here had the diagnostic ECU as far as i'm aware. Not sure why they changed that for austraila but they must have.

I believe the intake manifold is different but the post on the Skyline site only mentioned changing the throttle body so I guess the original intake stays.

I have a set of headers for the exhaust so I hope they will bolt straight up.

The ECU on my car and the one I just wrecked have no diagnostics. They both very early versions. One made in 11/83 and the other early 84.

Bad news all

The CA20 FWD I saw at the wreckers had the dizzy poking out the back of the head. For our orientation you would need to cut a hole in the firewall to make it fit. Might be alright on a pintara (R31) that has a 6 pot engine bay but it would not fit in our cars.

Starting to lose interest in this. There was a NA FJ20 in this weeks trading post with all the running gear for $850!!
