Friday Night Street Legals were taking place last night at Sask Int'l Raceway here in Saskatoon (http://www.racesir.com), so I decided to take the SE up to see what it could do.

Mods on the car are:
K&N cone filter
KA24 TB w/ intake manifold ported
2.5" manifold-back exhaust

I also weighed the 200SX while I was there. This should answer the lingering question of "How much does an SE really weigh?"

2855lbs

That's with a half tank of gas, no spare tire and the emissions junk removed.

First run:
Reaction: 0.238
60 foot: 2.453
1/4 ET: 16.718
MPH: 82.525

Everything went great, until I went to hit 3rd. It barely grinded into gear and wasted a lot of time.

Second run:
Reaction: 0.163
60 foot: 2.383
1/4 ET: 16.987
MPH: 80.478

This run was even worse. I did better at the tree, but then came third again and it refused to go into gear. I let out the clutch, shook the shifter around, pushed the clutch in again and then it finally went into 3rd. :p I was mad driving back from this one, so I just parked the car and went and watched racing for a while.

Third run:
Reaction: 0.198
60 foot: 2.488
1/4 ET: 16.613
MPH: 83.287

My best run. I was talking to the car in the staging lanes, saying "Go into 3rd gear! Go into 3rd gear". :) I'm a little crazy, yes, but it worked. I did the shift slowly and carefully and it actually went into 3rd fine this time.

I think if I could actually powershift the transmission and pull off a decent sixty foot time, it would be a 16 flat car I'm sure. But for now I'm happy with it. It's a full half second quicker and 3mph faster than when I raced it stock, so the mods definitely helped power.

he he  .......

I'd say let me drive it Dan, but I think you want your trans to survive the trip down the track. I'm a bit relentless when I race and GRINDING BE DAMNED!!!!

I just sort of ignore it and push till it's home. At least I did with my 5sp car untill it got totaled 2 almost 2 years ago. I guess that's why 2nd gear synchro was on it's way out huh. Eh....I dunno....nut it sure was fun making those tires SCREAM for mercy going into second. I had more than one ricer look at me crosseyed when I did that:yikes: .....lol.

I used to own an 83 Z28 with a 5 Speed and had to power shift it all the time. Damn clutch linkage had busted and I still needed to drive the car back and forth to work. Good thing the Nuetral Safty switch was messed up as well. I actually raced an Eclipse spider stop light to stop light. As long as I cought the gears, I was able to take him. But he got me a couple time because I couldn't get the damn thing to shift to the next gear. Takes practice, especially power shifting down Coming to a stoplight and slipping it into first to go again before the car stops.

It was the first year of the 5 spd, and the year before they used the juiced clutch.

I took a few pics with the digital camera while I was there. I should have taken more, but I was obviously kind of busy.
