oookay..heh.
I was thinkinga bout this on my vacation this weekend and I realized what would give us "real" downforce and also have the drag reducing capabilities of the stock spoiler.
why not put one at the top of the hatch. I mean, one of the arguments was that a real spoiler must be mounted around the height of the roof so it actually gets the airflow right? well, this way it WILL and there will be a gap between the hatch and the spoiler so air will still flow down over the aerofoil.
here's what I mean...classic example is on the civic hatchback. this obviously is more involved than the other plan, but this may be a more effective piece of an AEROKIT than modifying the stock aerofoil.

ours would obviously be more squarish, but this is the basic idea behind it.
and as for front downforce...wouldn't the windshield provide LOTS of downforce for the front/middle of the car already? I mean, the S12 is not exactly the pinnacle of aerodynamic construction right...
and I was also thinking about this...our moon roofs...opening them up would give us at least some downforce at speed right? ehhe....actually...I don't really know how effective this would be considering mine has an "auto-shut" feature once I hit like 170km/h(weak latch or something I guess..hahaha)

new spoiler idea...

Its gonna look like shit......Might be a decent idea, but we dont really have "Hatchbacks" persay......We have what is classidifed as a "Fastback" And a fastback has more of a slope than a hatchback hence the stock wing we got was the most functional we could get at the time.....I dont think this window wing will do any better other than to put unnessesary draft on the stock wing.......
Just my opinion though....

Classic Example dude, would be a 1984 (same year as an S12) DR30 RS-X skyline that had the exact spoiler mounted at the top of the rear window, with no spoiler on the boot (tunk) lid. I will try to find you a picture but i don't have one now as i am at work. They are overly useful as the air deflected by your windscreen seems to flow up and over this point and down the rear window, making a wing mounted at the very back of the car more than likely more practical. look at the FISCO race car bodykit, as that was obviously design to be 100% functional not just for "show"
A 1986 Toyota CelicaSUPRA's also had the wing at the top of the rear screen by the way.

I would say the moonroof idea would be slightly dangerous, lemme tellya a story. Driving from vancouver to the Kootenays about 190 kph past manning park with my moonroof open and I hear this creak. Hmmm I says, what the hell is that and as I look up to see what it was and SMASH!! the thing closes hard enough to shatter all over my head and down the back of my neck, imagine my surprise, (did I mention 190 kph!). That could have been a freak occurance but I'me not taking the chance again. I've never noticed the rear end of my car getting squirrely at speed so I cant see the benefits of a different wing except looks, at least for me anyways.
How about someone find an old 1983-1985(?) Supra with the rear sun visor. And to angle it, just cyt a small wedge out of the bottom to get downforce. Sory I dont have any pics (I dont know how to do it here) but you should know what I'm talking about.
well what about one of the old supra spoilers?? that would prolly look decent.
