I was thinking that since I built a lot of my own performance parts (MBC, blow off valve, cold air intake, short throw shifter, pod filter mount) I got thinking that other people are doing this. We should make this thread Sticky and people could share their own ideas for DIY performance. Not everybody makes big piles of money (I sure as hell don't) and this could be great for saving money. BTW I'me now running 11psi and cold air and the parts cost me like 120 bucks. Just an Idea, thanks

Yeah, that would be awesome, since most of the stuff for these cars needs to be homemade. Might turn out to be a pretty big thread though...

I would of expected more response to this but hey, what ya gonna do? I guess if I said I was a hot woman this thing would have 80 posts by now (see the pretty waste thread hehehe) but I hope more people put up some ideas cause I already saved myself a ton of money and wouldn't mind saving some more. I was also thinking of putting some of the ideas that are already here but scattered all over the place in one place for convienence. I've done a few of the DIY mods described here and they worked great. Hope this thing grows a bit.

Hey nobody is preventing you from posting ladies, but just make sure to identify if it is work place safe or not...

And I think that this is a good idea...infact we should get Dan to change the setup to accomodate a section just for custom mods...8)

i dont know if you guys have noticed but look in the coffee shop and look for the stickies.. i have stickied some BARTCO parts that are or will be avaiable for anyone very shortly

I have seen all those stickies and and I'me considering a couple of them, but I was thinking about all the broke (like me) and really cheap (also like me) people out there. We could try a parts section with custom, aftermarket, DIY, and the like to try get them all in one place.
Oh and since I started this thread I should probably put something in here.

HOMEMADE COLD AIR INTAKE
I should tell you right off the bat that this may save you a bunch of money but it takes time and work. You have to move your ignition coil up near the shock tower, build or buy an adapter so you can mount a pod filter on your MAF, cut holes in your fender liner, built a plate to keep rain off your filter. Just telling you it requires some work and skinned knuckles. I realize now that I am in fact at work and I'll leave this until I get home and take some pictures to aid in the project.

HOMEMADE BLOW-OFF VALVE
Also need pictures

HOMEMADE SHORT SHIFTER
This one is already described in a thread here (I forgot where) but it involves cutting your shifter and threading the inside, I will find where that thread is and let you know where it is.

HOMEMADE MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER
Same thing, Its already been described in a thread here. I'll find that one too and let you guys know where it is.

Thats all I've built so far but I've only had the car two months so I'll see what happens. I hope other people do the same. I couldn't have done any of these without the help of all the people on this site. Thanks for everything.

a lot of the DSM sites are good about car hacking. Everything I know I learned from other experiences. Go to the Galant VR4 board and you can find some crazy shite that people have come up with. The nice thing is it all almost transfers over to the S12s.

Noone's preventing you ladies from searching this forum and the old one at....

club-s12.org (http://www.club-s12.org/forum)

there's a short shifter write-up in the FAQ section

I don't know about a homemade blow-off valve but there are literally hundreds you could integrate into the induction system. It'd be a lot easier than making one yourself.

every where and there mother's brother's sister's cousin's dog has a write-up on MBC's.

oh and indeed there's more... on the old board (http://www.club-s12.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106)

I'm suprised noone's brought up the DIY A/F guage (http://www.club-s12.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=540). From the old board.... stickied none the less...
