Anyone in Chicago?

Hey guys,

I just found the site and am really interested in these cars. I'm a nissan gearhead so getting into these seems pretty fun. I currently have a '76 280z thats turbocharged with a best 1/4 mile of 12.7 @ 112. Hopefully that will change tomorrow since we are heading to the track again.

Anyways, there are not a lot of opportunities to see these cars(200sx's) up close very often. I was hoping someone may live in the Chicago area and maybe we could meet up. I know these cars can be had for pretty cheap, I'd just like to take a ride in somebody's car to see if I really like it.

I suppose it's fitting that a guy named "Garrett" drives a turbocar ;) Glad to have you here man, I have a 280ZX Turbo... are you running with the L28ET engine? I have always found the L series sixes to be such elegant engines with smooth yet fierce delivery of power.

We're a pretty tight-knit bunch on here, and we get to hear about stuff all around the world. Most of us have interests in other cars besides S12.

Yep I run the L28et. I am attempting to break into the 11's on the stock T3 turbo. I won't be happy unless I run a 12.4 tomorrow.

Basically the motor is stock with 15 psi, spearco intercooler, 60mm TB, 3" full exhaust. Put down 274 hp and 326 ft/lbs tq at the dyno.

So I'm thinking of a relatively quick S12 for a daily driver.

Well for those of you that are from the area . . . there are some great car places to hook at during the week . . . Thurs, Fri, Sat nights. Lets try and meet up somewhere. Shaumburg has alot of cool car spots.

My car has a rather cheap set of 17's on it. I thing they look great. They are "Speedy" wheels.

BTW I took the car to the track yesterday and they put me in the Quick 16 class. Unfortunately this new clutch I installed was slipping like crazy so I had to pull it all apart again last night. :(

As long as I can get it fixed and run a 12.4 before snow I will be happy.

OK now someone needs to give me a ride and then help me find an s12 for a daily driver! :)

I have heard of several places in Schaumburg where people meet, which I would be down for meeting up at. I do not list Wonder Lake as my location because who the hell knows where that is? Maybe if we can get a few more members from around Chicago, we can organize a caravan down to the North Carolina meet next year...I finally got the insurance thing figured out...and I am good to go!!
