i am just tinkering with this idea, not saying im doing it, just sizing it up, my suspension is done and riding like a dream (s13 teins on all four corners) and the motor is next..... i would love to put an s2000 motor and tranny in my car, as im sure a few of you have seen done to ae86's before, has anyone here put any motors/trannys into 200sx that just dont belong :), if so any advice would be great, unless i find a place to get and s2000 motor/tranny/ecu/dash cluster ......etc fairly cheap, like less then 3000$ ill just do a ca18det swap, i love high rpms ;)

All I have to say is good luck with grafting the motor in with our wiring and engine computer... We have trouble making SR20DETs compatible with our cars... Oh yea, are you gonna use the MkI or MkII S2000 Motor? (MkI=2.0L MkII-2004 an up=2.2L) A six speed would be nice in our cars though...

How so? Wiring is wiring, the engine computer will probably stand alone (barring any wierdness with any factory imobilisers or communication with a body computer etc). It MIGHT be a bitch but thats in no way because you would be doing the swap into a S12, it's only to do with how hard that particular motor is to wire up. (in the SR20DET's case it's pie)
The S2000 motor, although nice, is a peaky little bugger, also an expensive little bugger. But if you want to be different go ahead, i'd be more inclined to go a 1JZGTE though, even in manual form it's cheaper (in auto form it's cheaper than a S13 half cut hehe) and the toyota J motors are so nice :)

Honduh.... :honda:

Being differeing isn't always bad... but some things aren't different, they're just bad.

And as far as RB engines, we already know that the RB25/26 engines will NOT fit in our engine bays, unless you remove the whole radiator core support and move all that stuff more forward.. that's not even taking into consideration the other changes to the chassis to accommodate it. It's a no-go unless you basically redesign the S12 chassis.

You want to be different? Stick in a rotary lol. Someone recently stuffed a complete VG30DETT into an S12, talk about original. Or you can do what no SE owner has yet to do and actually make a VG30ET work in an S12. Or run an N/A FJ20E.

Leave the S2000 engine in the S2000.

lol, i should have known this was a touchy subject, anyways like i said, im not claiming im going to do it, just thinking about it, im not try to be diff, or looking for something crazy to put in my car, im simply trying to build the best drift/race car i can, or want, i love the feel of the s12 power, and i think it would be a good complement to the suspension and other mods i am doing. thanks for all the response so far!

J/K ... The S2000 motors are alright, but you have to rev the living piss out of them to get any power (like most any Honda motor). Personally, if you're drifting it, I think an SR20DET would be a much better choice, or a KA-T if you wanna be different. Either one of these motors will give you a LOT more power down low (especially a KA-T), and still have more overall power than the S2000 motor. And yeah, I almost said "ka-CHING" when I saw S2000, I thought SR20's were expensive...
