I was watching a show called Rides last night, where they were trying to make a GTO into a drifter, but anyways there was a drifting team they showed, not sure what comapny backed them but they put on a drifting show for the show Rides (wow i think this is even going to confuse me) anyways i DEFINATELY saw a 200sx drifting like a mother, i was like whoooooa damn i wanna make my car into a drift car, eh to expensive for me but just wanted to let u know that their is a 200sx drifter out there and man can that car drift.

u sure it wasnt a ae86 from a distance or when drifting they tend to look alot like our cars.. and that gto... hate to say it but there is a gto around that can do some serious drifting.. if ja or radracer ever get the vids up.. we will see it

i saw that show, too. it was an ae86. (and i was looking for a silvia, there was one, a 240 fastback)

Not to say the S12 can't drift, it's possible to drift almost anything really but the S12 shares alot of the things that make a good drifter with the AE86 and the later S cars like good weight distribution, relatively light, rear wheel drive, can be made to have decent power etc.
Towards the end of this year me and FLY PSI will be entering whatever drift practices and comps we can find within 4 hours of where we live :) WIth luck there will be 4 or 5 :)

Yeah, that's the factory Pontiac-backed HUGE $$$$ team with Rhys Millen doing the driving. Kinda funny watching that big heavy loud V8 car beside all the small turbo cars...

Also kinda funny that Pontiac pulled OUT of NASCAR, and got IN to drifting... Hmmmmmm....

ya cause pontiac got sick of the rednecks looking and wishing they could afford a pontiac so it went to a croud that had more money....lol

Pontiac left NASCAR because there was to much overlap with Chevrolet. I sincerely doubt that they believe that some 20 y/o wannabe drifter kid is going to go out and buy a new GTO. Its kinda hard to afford a $32,000 car by flipping burgers at Micky D's. What Pontiac is trying to do is build brand loyalty by making people want a Pontiac now. This leaves an impression with people so that when they can afford a nice new car, 5 or 10 years down the road, they are more likely to consider a Pontiac then they otherwise would be.

Thank you very much, that's what I was trying to say... ;)

I'm pretty sure that the new GTO is a Holden Monaro CV8.

I remember shows and articles talking about it, but then it was going to be the Commodore instead of the Monaro. So the GTO is not really american but aussie instead. Just an american motor inside. Its almost time to start watching the Aussie V8 supercar season

Yeah it's aussie, they are quite popular here as is the 4 door commodore it's derived from (common as in every second person has one...). I'm not a big fan but they are quick enough. The newest one has aquired the GTO nostrils so that it's easier to make GTOs and Monaros on the same production like over here i guess, it's pretty awful looking IMHO...
The RamAir version i have seen on some websites looks pretty sweet tho.
