Alright guys! I made this custom computer mainly to play some games, and I havent gotten to yet! I dont got none thats why!! What are some good games that are out, preferablly some that I dont need to pay a subscription to like the Star Wars one that was just released. My computer can handle just about any game, including Doom 3 so I dont need to worry how the graphics are on some...

Wha?!?! haha I'm new to this so I dunno what RPG and MMORPG's are...

I like sci fi stuff, Final Fantasy...that game is just too much for me, it take me 20yrs to even figure out what I gotta do lol. I"d prolly play Halo...

Grand Theft Auto Vice City all the way ...and San Andreas is coming out soon, 'twill be quite the bomb. Need For Speed Underground is heaps of fun. Halo 2 is coming out soon so get a hold of that when it gets to PC.
That's the big-uns, they're the ones you want.
God bless

I just got NFS-U this weekend, spent all day yesterday on it...

I'm finally up to a Nissan anyway (Sentra SE-R SpecV), I think it's kinda funny how it's a whole lot easier to drift the FWD's than the RWD's though. But yeah, that's a lotta fun.

If you want THE most realistic simulator ever though, get NASCAR Racing by Papyrus (not the crappy EA sports version). Not sure how much you're into NASCAR or stock car racing, but I drive a stock car, and I can tell you that this game is the closest thing I've ever felt to driving a real car. Only thing missing is the seat of the pants feel.

MMORPG= Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.
Examples: Star Wars Galaxies (I have it but my computer cant support it so I have never played it... AND I got it when it first came out in the limited edition), Final Fantasy XI Online (Again one I have for PS2 and LOADS of fun!!!), and some other ones. They are fun to play bu you have to keep in mind that they are ONLINE ONLY. There is no single player or offline mode.

Oh yea, as for realistic racing simulators... Gran Turismo.... Nothing can touch it. I got GT4 on reserve. And it WILL be THE most realistic racing simulator ever! Example: If you hit someone or ride the wall, you will drastically slow down. The game will emphasize on the racing line, instead of getting a car with 900hp and ride the walls. There is also a really expensive racing wheel and pedal set that is made just got GT4... I'm thinking about getting that too.

 Don't get me wrong, I love all the Gran Turismo games, but it's still an arcade game. In my books, when you can hit the wall at 100 mph and still keep up with everyone else, that's an arcade game. And I love arcade games, but for ultimate reality, check out any Papyrus game. Grand Prix Legends came out way back in like 98, and it blew my freakin mind when it came out. Takes hours and hours of practice to even keep up with the computer.

But, that's what I like, and when I get tired of getting beat, I get out NFS Hot Pursuit 2 or NFS-U and go kick some ricer butt. Don't have any PS stuff, but I play GT2 & GT3 a lot at friend's houses, and it is a good arcade game, but arcade none the less...

screw papyrus, grab a copy of f1 2002 and download the gtr full conversion. holy crap, that's realism for you. live for speed with custom car models works well, too, although there are only a few cars in-game that are actually modeled well at the moment.

as for shooters, i'd recommend far cry; you can get it pretty cheap nowadays and its a very, very impressive game, graphics wise. gameplay isn't bad, either.

The big hitters in the world of PC games have kinda been left out: Battlefield Vietnam, Counterstrike and Day of Defeat. Half Life 2 is due so is Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault.
Halo is good but Halo 2 is xbox only at this stage and grand turismo 3/4 is a ps2 game...not really helpfull :P
It really depends on what sort of games you like i spent over a year on Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (IMHO one of the best RPGs ever) and am still playing Chrono Trigger (oldschool SNES RPG by square) and Final Fantasy VIII.

Heh at work today we are having a tech conference and we got two XBOX stations and a PS2 station. W00000 free gameplay with free Krispykremes.. mmmmmmm Halo 2 anyone?

Im currently playing doom3 (let down compared to 1 & 2) and GTA3.

I was playing quake3 online but due to me cheating 3 years ago i got banned 2 months ago. meh..

Me and my 6800 vid card are hanging out for Half-life 2!! :mike:

I'm waiting for the 6600GT to come out in AGP before i upgrade, my Radeon 9600XT is still getting me by for now. I don't play enough anymore to justify going to a PCI-e based solution at this point in time (as much as i'd like to build a new box he he)

bartc_jdate not saved · #14

counterstrike... freaking rules

westside27375date not saved · #15

Bart, yes it does.

I'm a avid counterstrike player and also day of defeat. Those games are half life mods. best thing to do is wait untill half life 2 comes out (very soon), buy that and then get counterstrike.

SLEEPNS12date not saved · #16

sounds like I'm gonna go buy HAlo 2 and Counter strike...guess I'm gonna HAVE to subscribe ah! haha

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #17

Is Halo 2 confirmed for PC yet? Counterstrike source you get when you buy HL2 so get that when it's out.

Festerdate not saved · #18

pffftttt at counterstrike, don't get me wrong, I play the game for jollies, but I don't understand how anyone can take it so seriously. Its so slow!

Three words that are the key to the most adrenalin you can find sitting in a chair.

TFC is a half-life mod (in fact, the first mod of half-life). In order to play it well at a competitive level, it requires a skill level that makes counterstrike look laughable. Unfortunately it realistically takes about 2 years to become a competitive player, and most communities are dominated by arrogant morons.

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #19

I agree that Counterstrike has the largest population of idiots but then again it probably has the largest population overall so i guess it's inevitable, i actually stopped playing CS when version 1 came out (having played it for a year or two solid during the beta phase). In my opinion DOD is the best half life mod going, i never got into TFC at all, played TF back in the quake days when it was massive tho, pretty fun tho.

Basically SLEEPNS12 you will have to try a whole stack of games and see what you like, you might find that you hate TFC but love like Halo or whatever.

I was deadly addicted to Battlefield 1942. What an amazing game. Just the freedom it gives you to go and do whatever you please, it allows much more cunning and thought to be used in the game, versus ones where you have to follow a set path. People win matches in BF42 by hiding ontop of tanks, throwing grenades out of bedroom windows while hiding under the bed, stealing other team's equipment, sit in the enemy's guard tower and peg them off while they run around trying to find out why they keep dying. :evillaug: . It's more like real life than any other war game I've played. Plus with the latest release, it comes with CheatBuster built in from EA Games that prevents any and all cheating, and so far so good. Nobody has been able to find out how to bypass the Buster yet so it's all honest game play.

But I don't play it much anymore though. Too busy now for games you play for hours on end.

I never liked Counterstrike either, but I probably didn't get into it early enough. Looking at the graphics and gameplay of CS vs. BF42, it just feels ancient and out of date. Maybe if they come out with CS2 I might get into it, but until then, Battlefield is where it's at.

update here....

I have Alien VS Predator 2 and MechWarrior 4.

AVP2- I dont know if I like this kinda horror game....makes me too freakin jumpy haha, but I do like the graphics of it.

MECH4- I been playin this game quiet a bit, I like it. I like how u can mess with teh machines settings, and switch out machinery.

What are some good Strategy type games like Rome? I've seen my fren play it and it looks pretty cool. Was gonna get it, but DAMN its 54bux right now...cheapest I seen was $50, I can wait on it.

PC Gamer just gave Half Life 2 a rating of 98%. That's the highest rating PCG has given out in the history of the magazine. Sounds like that's going to be THE game to get this Christmas.
