Love em or hate em, once you've been dating a while - birthdays become a bitch. What do i get her? Jewelery? Will she like it? Clothing? Will it fit? Music? Not romantic enough? Do i need to take her to dinner? Am i even getting sex out of this?

the last one's a bit of a joke, but i mean seriously here - what a pain in the ass. they have these huge expectations and you've gotta some how live up to them. it's an insane ammount of stress...

I got her the gift already - a necklace and a poster and a flower - but now i'm worried about presentation. how do i give it to her? When do i give it to her? do i have to ask her to dinner? Why is this so hard?

Dude, your relationship shouldn't be a source of stress, it should be a source of support. If she truly loves you, even if you give her a plastic ring that's free from a box of cereal, as long as it's from the heart, it's all good.

Depends on how good you can cook to, i'm planning somthing along the lines of me cooking dinner and candles and stuff. It's easy to get rid of my parents or her mum to make it happen anyways :)
Luckily she likes my cooking hehe.

whoa whoa whoa bud, watch it with the love. i take love pretty damn seriously - and would never use it unless i was absolutely certain i felt it. i never said i loved her, or that she loved me.

:violin:

that may be one of the reasons why you're not finding the "right" presant easy to find!

Either way... dinner... at a nice small cafe/resturant, and a gift that you know she'll want... something that she'll need and something that will last more than a week.

Photo's and stuff are easy options that always go down well too...

Good luck either way!

haha love-o-phob :)
the best thing about my girlfriend is she doesn't celebrate birthdays so i dont have to worry about that one but forget the anniversary and o-oh i better be ducking for cover.

We use point systems.....girls don't

We think a $10,000 ring would give us 1,000,000 brownie points or something. But wot you gotta realise my friends is that, that is ONE point to a girl.

You give her some flowers or a new ferrari.....it's all the same....anything to show love.

I have cooked my g/f dinner and also written letters and poetry with flowers and stuff.....she loved it

Also do the whole I have 200 candles in my room thing......my girl thought it was amazing....i also had a little thing written for her (of course it was our 3rd month anniversary)

I'm not a conventional boyfriend and have never saught to be. we started dated weird, we continue to be weird, but we really like eachother and that's all that counts. what's stupid is that i tried to pretend my birthday was a month later when it came around so she wouldnt do anything, and with hers i feel like she'll dump me if i don'tdo something insane. we don't compliment eachother well.

shanedate not saved · #13

"""and with hers i feel like she'll dump me if i don'tdo something insane."""

Ouch dude dont worry so much if a girl breaks up with ya for not spending your last dollar and you made an effort then she can get stuffed...im sure you will be fine dude...how long have you been together??

Hey man,

Take her somewhere out to eat, not too special, but not too cheap either!
You could go to hers to pick her up, give her the presents then, then go for food?

Yah know there are a few female members on this board, I think this would be a good time to interject...Also if your relationship is based on money, there may be a serious problem...The likely hood is that you already have one girl that takes the lagest sum of your money (Silvia), but having two...ouch...lol

My suggestion is that something from the heart will always (or should) go further than something from the loan agency...women seem to like the frilly crap, so even if the thing you get her is small, make sure to wrap it up...

And as far as the sex goes, your best bet is to be as romantic as possible...

God luck man, I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together...(I love that quote, from Red Green)

Alex Frostdate not saved · #16

This was just suggested by a friend...surprise her by doing nothing...that will take off guard...lol 8)

So what are you in this relationship for? Just a friend with benefit? If you already get t3h sex, then why do anything else? :p It's probably cheaper to get a hooker. I'm not speaking from experience BTW :p

Just kidding...

If there is even a slight chance that your woman will dump you depending on what you get her for her birthday, drop her like a hot rock. Love and affection can't be bought and if your girlfriend's opinion of you hinges on how much money you spend on her she's not worth your time. The best relationship I was ever in both of us were broke most of the time. Why should you be forced to spend money and shower her with gifts? Not saying its a bad idea but doing it for resons that aren't you own is a mistake. Try getting her something cheap and something nice but give the cheap one first and watch her reaction. If she gets angry, dump her ass and return the nice gift but if she say thanks and hugs you anyways she's a keeper, then give her the nice one. But good luck whatever you do.

i'm not saying we don't care about eachother, i'm saying that so many people mis-use the word love and get married and all that shit claiming they love each other that i'm afraid to use the word.

anyways - i survived. i'm afraid i overreacted a slight bit ... also no, our relationship isnt based on money. last time we went to a movie she paid....

SLEEPNS12date not saved · #20

ah you'll know when to use the word LOVE...First time I said I lover you to my wife, we were dating and I was feeding her a french fry and I accidently choked her with it...I said "You know I love you" and that was that...

You shouldnt HAVE to do anything for each other, hell my wife and I have been together for 6yrs, married for 2 of em, and we've never really done anything for each other. Only thing BIG we've done for each other is that I bought her a D and Burke bag that costed almost 300bills. I bought it cuz she deserves it, takes care of our child, cooks me dinner nitely, and does a bunch of other stuff..
