please help - or know anyone who can? i was driving my dad's silvia on the A31 when i was rammed from behind. it was a fairly low speed impact, resulting in slight damage to the rear trim and deformation of the bumper and reinforced floor pan at the back, the hatch won't open as a result. plus the headlights are stuck in the up position. the mechanic who did the assessment for the insurance hinted that it was likely to be written off.

my old man loves this car and will be devastated if this happens. how can i convince the insurers this is not an old car - but a classic car. it's a 1985 model 1.8 turbo, two owners, full history, used regularly throughout its life, excellent engine and in good condition generally. car's now in the braintree area.

any advice greatly appreciated, best wishes, dadsilvia

If the rear floorpan is deformed then the frame in the frame in the rear is twisted. You could probably buy the car back from the insurance company, but it waould cost an arm and a leg to get it straightend out. And that's even if a shop would touch it.

I'm sorry to say the car is most likely a total loss.
