So I was just browsing messages here, and came across Kaz's signature...

'84 S12 CA18ETi Silvia
'88 Z31 VG30E Fairlady Z
'91 Z32 CA18DET Fairlady Z
'97 A32 VQ30DE Cefiro SE

Normally I don't even look at sigs, but I stopped to read through them.

'84 S12 CA18ETi SilviaGotcha. The reason you're here obviously.

'88 Z31 VG30E Fairlady ZYep.

'91 Z32 CA18DET Fairlady ZOk, hold the phone. A 1.8 litre Z32? That's impressive, yet confusing at the same time. What kind of late night drunken idea was this? What kind of dynamics does the Z32 posses now that it has 250 less pounds in the front end?

'97 A32 VQ30DE Cefiro SEOk, I'm assuming you just added Cefiro body parts to a Maxima here. I don't know U.S. Law, but I don't think 1997 Cefiro's are allowed for importation yet.

Care to comment Kaz? This is a really interesting collection you have.

US has different importation laws.

they can import newer cars as long as they can pass safety testing and stuff. (which means they have to destroy one to be able to bring a bunch over).

that's why people can get R33s and stuff.

so.. you're telling me that if i can buy two really cheap S12's from austrailia or something.. and then crash one that i'll be able to import the other?! haha.. i mean shit it might even be worth it.. b/c after one is crashed and the DOT EPA and other organizations have that information in their records you'd be able to bring more ,..

What's the point? We already have S12's?

If Kaz actually has the CA18DET powered Z32, I bet it would handle pretty well. It would be near a 50/50 weight distribution. However, I'm not sure if I'd want to lose the torque of the V6. Cornering attitude can always be adjusted with the throttle. ;)

It's not easy to import a car though. The only company in the US that I know of that can legally import them is Motorex in California. Even though the cars sell for super cheap prices in Japan, it costs so much to ship and legalize here that it's kinda rediculous...

But yeah, I had glanced at Kaz's sig before, but never really thought about it much I guess...

the ca18det z32 is interesting, kinda like the 3sgte-swapped mkiv supras. i think kaz just calls his cars their jdm names, heh... i seriously doubt he'd import a cefiro over here and no one in va would know about it.

What's the point? We already have S12's?

but do we have FJ20ET powered RHD S12's?!

Spooleddate not saved · #10

Well, you can import an FJ20 a lot easier than importing a whole car. RHD is just a frivolous novelty in a LHD country. Drive thru's would be a pain in the arse! However, getting pulled over would be interesting.

myth_S12date not saved · #11

Hmmm... yeah. I've heard of that crash stuff... a bit sad but then it's a good thing cause you get a car... RIP.

sundayssorrowgtrdate not saved · #12

well i dont know about my car it has the fj20e but it is left hand drive but it is all european spec from the tail lights to the rally edition bars on the pop ups to the bar in the floor on the passenger side to the km/h speedometer so it was obviously imported

Spooleddate not saved · #13

Probably a German car. Germany is LHD and uses km/h gauges.

Indecisivedate not saved · #14

well because we have S12s, you could do a LHD conversion if you bring over a RHD s12

sundayssorrowgtrdate not saved · #15

yeah but there are no signs of a conversion and it had uhh french or somin under the hood on the radiator.maybe its spanish i dont know
