Well, looks like I'm probably gonna get the 87 hatchback after all, and that's probably the car that I'll drop the KA in. I've always liked the hatches a little better anyway. So, that leaves the question of what to do with the coupe? It's got a decent body and a pretty good interior, and the A/C blew ice cold, so the thought has crossed my mind of rebuilding the CA20, get it running, and sell it, and possibly (key word: possibly) make a little money off of it. My Dad thinks I could make some pretty decent money off it, but for what I'll have to put in it, the resale value on these cars really sucks.
But, it would make an awesome daily driver, and it would free me up to go a little bit wilder with the KA.
The other option is to just let it sit until I have a hankering for another project. I'd really love to do a turbo VG30 (thanks to Henge for getting me all riled up about that ;) ), but it would probably be at least a year or two before I could ever get on it. I'm just not sure I want the car to sit and rot for that long.
So what should I do?
I do have that SR20 sitting in the corner too... :evillaug: It's FWD though, and the more I look at it, that'll be a real pain to swap to RWD.
What to do with the coupe?

FWD SR20 S12? lol
sidenote: kinda unrelated but i think i may be one of the only guys here who actually sort of prefers the coupe.
i prefer it as well
Well, I like em both, and I've seen a lotta coupes that I liked (have a pic of Adam666's car hanging up in my shop  ), but I've always had a thing for the hatch since that's what my first S12 was (the circle track car).
FWD SR20 S12? lol
No, it wouldn't be FWD, but it's a FWD motor, and converting it to sit the other direction requires quite a few changes that I'm not sure I want to get into.
Whoever suggested a FWD S12...:kicknuts:...*lol* But i would keep it, these cars will be gaining value sooner than later, and it will be then that you could sonsider selling it; god forbid...
I voted for the CA20 because I want to learn from your mistakes :p
Well, I'm thinking about doing the CA20, but it's not gonna be much of a build up, just a bigger cam from Colt and some minor porting and polishing, and a little decking to raise the compression to about 9.5:1 or 10:1. It looks like it might end up being my Dad's daily driver, which is fine with me since he pays for everything, and then it stays in the family!
Sooner or later it'll end up being mine anyway if he gets it. :D
how much am I looking at to raise the compression to like 9.5:1? cost/time?
The other option is to just let it sit until I have a hankering for another project. I'd really love to do a turbo VG30 (thanks to Henge for getting me all riled up about that ;) )
damn right! i cant wait till i find another VG so we can get started on my VG33ET(T)
but back to the topic on hand.. i would still say dont sell the notchback, and as you said maybe just rebuild the CA20, do the cams, raise compression, and maybe bore it out a little (LOL, you know what i'm talking about Joel) and throw it in for now.. and you could always go back and change it later on..
lol, it was a joke alex.
