I accidently found this while I was looking for KYB GR2 shocks. It turns out that our cars ACTUALLY do have something in common with the 95-98 200sx. Infact the upgrade shocks and so on for the front and the rear of the 95-98 are supposed to be a direct swap for the IRS rear S12's, and ALL S12 fronts (rear 95-98 fits rear IRS, and front 95-98 fits all fronts of S12's)...

KYB part number for the front is

365031

and rear is

343210

I have not called to double check this yet, but I am going to tonight...

You could just go into an Autozone or similar parts store, ask for the late-model 200sx part like you had one and have them show you the part. Even better if you have yours taken apart, clean up your old cartridge and bring it with you, tell them you want to compare your old strut to the new one. Don't need to mention that it's out of a different year :-P
One thing, wouldn't the late-model 200sx have had a coil-over-shock setup in the rear? [edit] FWIW I saw the entries in the KYB catalog online just now, that's interesting. I then went to Autozone's website, they list different part numbers for the two cars. I, too, would be very surprised to find them to be interchangeable, but stranger things have happened.

I did a search of part numbers on parts america and autozone and it doesn't look too good for a complete swap out. Part of the reason is that we use shocks in the rear and the B14 uses struts all the way around. Now, the front part number didn't match up, but the rear part numbers matched our front part numbers.

In summary, the rear struts in the B14 200SX are the same style as the front struts in the S12 200SX.

I talked to my dealer yesterday, and he is looking into it. His listing was the same way, so we shall soon see...If it looks promissing I will be taking mine apart next weekend...that gives me three weeks to put it back together, and hopefully get a definate answer...
