A friend of mine is giving me an Eaton m190 supercharger off a 1989 thunderbird with a 3.8 and I was wondering if my turbo car could use a supercharger succesfully. Mounting would be rather difficult but not impossible but I'm not sure of the pro's and con's of a blower. I like the idea of boost from idle (no lag, yay) but I'm not sure of any side effects. Has anybody ever heard of a supercharged ca18et? Any help would be great. Thanks.
Any pics of FJ engine mounts?
i can get you a picture of a supercharged CA20E. Just gotta find someplace to host the pics.
You could send them straight to me. PM me.
e-mail me the pics and I'll host

Wow. This I must see.
Me too.
Its an M90, not a 190. Its also too big for a CA20. You would be better off with a M45 off a Xterra or SLK230 or a M62 off a GM 3.8. An M45 with a drive ratio of 2:1 would come out to about 7.5 psi on a CA20 and it would be much easier to fit into the engine bay. If you go to www.eaton.com (http://www.eaton.com) and look around you can find compressor maps for the different superchargers.
If you decide not to use the M90 then I might like to make an offer on it.
I was thinking it might be too big but it is FREE after all. Besides I enjoy a challenge. If I don't use it on my nissan it will go on my ford. If I do use it on the nisan then my two turbos will go on the ford. I work with a couple of welders and machinists that are interested in helping me do this just to see if we can, so I have a lot of help. How much boost will this thing produce? It produces 9psi on a 3.8 litre engine.
look at it this way........if it produces too much boost you can always under drive it (a.k.a. install a larger pully)
At a drive ratio of 1:1 it will produce about 7.5 psi, but it may not come on instantly like it normally would. Eaton superchargers are designed to be run at about twice the crankshaft speed. They have to be spun fast enough to overcome the blow by around the rotors. How long it takes to come on boost will depend on what kind of shape the supercharger is in.
I would suggest having one of your machinist friends cut the snout of the supercharger down so that you can move the case forward. That will give you more room between the superchargers inlet and the firewall.

Take a look at that link. Someone put an m90 on an RX7 for less that $400.
Hi as you guys know I'll be swapping an FJ20ET into my S12. Do you have a nice big pic of the enigine bay. Also any pics of the engine mounts would be good.
thanks in advance

ive got some pics on my hard drive, do you want me to email them to you?
pm me. they are for a non turbo, but they are exactly the same as the turbo ones anyway...just a bit easier to see in the photos thats all!
Sure VEGIE go ahead. I'd be interested to see If the mounts look similar to the CA. Thanks to fantasy I at least know they are on the bottom of the engine like the CA's. hmmm... I didn't the intake manifold was going to that close to the frame.
