hahaha, shitty deal.

here when it snows during your license testing, they go easier on you too.

i live on the east coast of Australia sun shine all year round no snow but it would be nice though, don't panic man it's better to get the first time round then 3 or 4 times later.

Do you have any experience driving in the snow? If not, then your parents are probably doing the right thing. You may think you're a good driver right now, I know I did when I was 16. Looking back now though, I don't even know how I'm still alive! LOL

haha that's true. I'm exactly the same way.

I did my test with 6 incehs of snow on the ground, with the newer style escort (98). I told the tester at the beginning that the car hydroplains very badly (no matter what tires you put on it). Half way through the test she tells me that I need to go faster...then she realizes what I meant when we almost hydroplained through a stop sign...stupid women testers that don't trust me...

That is a really shitty deal though...

Yeah 200rr, its probably for the best, trust me on this all the confidence in the world doesnt change your skill level, and unfortunately skill only comes with practice and time, but then again this is coming from a guy who slide his 12 off a cliff hmmmm.

Just because you know what skill is doesn't mean you have any ;) *lol* jks...8)

Same here. I got my license in October of 1993, lived in Buffalo, bought an 82 200SX (RWD), had crappy tires on it and didn't know enough to put weight in the back. I'm amazed I'm still here. I was a menace to society that first winter, it seemed I never went anywhere in a straight line, I was constantly wagging the ass, going through turns sideways, bouncing off snowbanks, etc.

I swear I musta had some kind of guardian angel watching over me and anyone who happened to ride with me. Fortunately if you do survive that first winter the skills you gain stay with you. (See my thread titled, "Scared the pants of my friend in her new car")

unfortunately guys, even tho I've had my car since august 2003..she's never seen any real winter driving..

I had a toyota 4runner to play in the snow last year...so don't be suprised if by the end of winter you'll all be saying RIP Indy's RPS12 heh

Alright! A fellow "old guy". hehe I got my license in 1992. Had all kinds of fun in my 76 GMC pickup, and then my first S12, the '84 CA20 automatic. All I can say is, thank goodness that car didn't have any power! It makes me cringe seeing high schoolers in V8 Mustangs and other higher horsepowered cars. You pick up some fairly decent skills in underpowered cars, while still maintaining some sort of public safety.

he he he old guy. Now I don't feel so bad. I got mine in 1990. I learned to drive in the middle of winter here in my uncles 1975 Monte Carlo which he had modded out to around 375 horse. I killed many a snowbank with that tank that winter.

Damn, I feel old. Licensed to terrorize back '89. Sh!t, Had my first mishap less than 12 hours after getting licensed. Now to clarify here. TECHNICALLY I DID NOT CRASH INTO ANY OBJECTS. I was up at Twin Peaks (Famous Make-Out place in San Francisco) overlooking the city and upon leaving, I took the first turn too fast and hit the curb, panic'd, hit the gas and went over the curb, and down over 300 feet of the steepest f*ckin' hillside known to man. Slid between poles, ram'd another curb and ended up back on the road. Although I'm sure this all took place in less than 10-20 seconds, it seemed much longer, with 16 yr old girls screaming "I'm too young to die!!", and 16 yr old guys yelling "I can't die a virgin!!", food flying everywhere, and the sound of my engine redlining the whole way down, since I didn't let go of the gas until we hit the curb on the bottom.
Gotta admit tho, The 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon was a tough old girl. All I did was bend the rim. Of course, it was mangled all over the brake caliper and took over 2 hours to change the tire, I just want to reiterrate, I DID NOT CRASH INTO ANY OBJECTS.

geessss....you guys are makin feel REALLY old. Got mine in 86.

First car I drove on a consistant basis was a 78 mazda GLC with a 77 CID engine. Wanna talk about no power.....damn. I dumped the clutch with my foot on the floor and it made 2 marks about 3" long..................and that was it.

I don't recomend doing that BTW.

My fist car was a 75 Cutlass. Had a 260 V8 with about 110HP....my god what a dog. made it to 85 mph......that was it. Topped out.

Then I started getting into my next 6 Oldsmobiles........and probably 10 engines total between em. Last and best of all being my 400 HP 455 in a 1970 442....(sniff)......now that was a fun car.

After the first time I hit a patch of black ice in my S12 and spun, I decided to go to the local hockey arena parking lot and practice my driving when it's slippery out ... Did that every Sunday/Monday after midnight ...

Haven't spun out since :)
