Well I put my order in for my distributor today and I just realized I've never changed a distributor B4 icon_confused.gif . any thing i need to know to prevent disaster? I've already numbered all the wires and labled both coil wire ports. I have a timing gun so that shouldn't be a problem, but I'm wondering if there's a newbie mistake looming in my future that I could prevent by probing wiser minds.

Thanks,
Bizz

make sure you mark where the points of the rotor are in respect of the dis cap. take he cap off and see where those two points and mark them in relation to the cap. this will give you a fairly acurate starting point for your timing. if for some reason you forget set the #1 piston to tdc on compresson stroke, all you have to do is take the #1 spark plug out and hold you thumb over the hole, and rotate the crankshaft clockwise until you feel air being pushed out and then turn it till its at 0 derees on the crankshaft pulley. then just put the dis. back so that the 2 points on the rotor are aligned with the #1 sparkplug wires on the cap for intake and exhaust. and then just turn it on set your timing and you're good to go.
hope this helps you out.
