i'm new to this site and i was just given an 85 s12 for free. the engine is running amizingly for an 85. the interior is in good condition too. on the interior, the drivers side door, the power windows "button" is missing and seems as though is doesnt go down. also, the speedometer doesn't even move. the tach works fine and everything else too. also the mileage doesn't move. how can these probs be fixed? any help would be great. thanks so far.

Well, first things first. Welcome to the site!! Wave2.gif And you are another one who gat a FREE S-12...GRRR!! HAHA

As far as your problems go, if the button is missing for the power window how would you expect the window to go down in the first place? BUt I think your only option here is to get a new/used switch (GOOD LUCK!!) New from nissan they are *thinking* I wanna say 153 bucks. Something insane...and good luck at the parts yard. I have been unable to find any in cars around here..they are all gone or destroyed from some idiot tearing into the door panel.

Your speedometer and odometer are most likely due to a faulty Speedo drive cable. These olds cars had the speedo head driven by a cable that hooked directly to the transmission. Either the cable has bound, broken, snagged, whatever...or the gear inside the tranny has lost all it's teeth due most likely to age or improper installation.

Hope this helps, lets us know if we can help any more icon_smile.gif

words like "move" lead me to believe he's talking analog. I could be wrong. Also - doesnt the millage thing just stop at a certain point??? or does it roll over?
