So you have the tokico springs now but are thinking about switching to the ST's??? Why would you want to do this? The spring rates aren't that different.

Front = Tokico 175lbs/in or ST 173lbs/in
Rear = Tokico175lbs/in or ST 226lbs/in

Though I'm sure you know this. The only possible + to the fronts is the extra lowering. From what I can tell the ST's are a bit lower. THere is NO fender gap on my car. Lower offsets will actually make the tire run into the fender. The rear ST springs would stiffen things up a bit but I would personally only suggest them if you have a full interior, spare, and subs/sterio. Other wise the seem to offer almost no lowering. I have none of those things and my car is very ramped.?. Personally I am going to be looking into either barts coilovers or an S13 suspension. You might want to hold out a little longer too. I do like my current set-up though. It rides very well and handles great though I have very little to compare it to yet. Y were you thinking of swapping any way?

PS - what did you mean by "how low did you go?"

darn... i thought the st springs were alot stiffer and would drop my car a lower

i just want my car to handle better
i thought just swaping springs over i'd be able to take turns faster
thanks for clearing things up
i think i'll wait too

its cool. While you wait you might want to get all your bushings done (control arms, endlinks, and such). It will help a bit too. Personally I think since I already have them I'm going to keep the ST rears and just get some 200 or 250 fronts.

does fender gap mean the gap between the tire and the fender?

there should be a few write ups on it in other posts but...

79-83 280ZX fronts
84-89 300ZX rears

JCWhitney sells ea as prs for like $70. $140 is not bad for a spring kit.

Mymoms12: If you want better handling then upgrade your shock absorbers as springs wont do that much especially if you already have a decent pair in there!

I believe you have to do them together. You'll just blow a really nice strut if your spring isn't strong enough. Hell on the other side your ride will just suck if your spring over powers your strut (bouncy). They have to complement ea other. Do to the fact that neither ST nor Tokico raised the spring rate all that much they still work quiet well w/ the stock type struts (KYB's). The only thing you have to worry about is bottoming out the strut and damaging it with the lower spring. But I have not found this to be a problem. Also the rear will help out quit a bit if your car is over loaded. Mine is striped so its very light normally but me and my friends have gone on many trips and when loaded with luggage (I would equate this to a large stereo, amps, speakers and such) it does handle butter w/ the plus rated rear springs. Though I must say like many people out there my spring were all shot. So technically even new OE springs prob would have been better. *shrugs*

when you bought those springs did you pay for both full sets? ie the full 300zx setup and the full 280zx, or did they split them up for you?

When I bougth the 300's I didn't know about JCWhitney so I bought the full set from some one and sold the fronts. The 280 rears I did buy from JCW. They are the only place that I have ever found that sells them as pairs. Like I said its $70 for ea pr, so $140 total. Mixing and matching w/ them is not a problem. You can take a look at their site if you want more info.

I bought them that way, and they sent me the wrong rear springs... they were about the size of the FRONTS!! ? I called and they said they had it listed that the 300zx had the same front and rear springs... I'm like, no... I returned them, got a refund, and have yet to reorder...
