well as a lot of you know i have the ca18et, and yesterday i changed it to the ca20 intake mani for a easy IC piping.
1) from the sticky on general, the manies are a TAD different, some vaccum lines are missing there and are on mine and vice versa
2) mechanical difficulties you will have. The radiator piping that enteres into the block, it is on the way to the new IM because it's bigger and it WIll not fit as is. What i did it take it out put the head and the mani, then hammer the pipe a little to make it straight, tilted it counterclock wise about 30 degrees, silicone the entry and hammer is back in.
3) Will be a pain in the ass to put the rad hose in, but some swearing goes a long way.
4) My emmisions are GONE, EGR was killing some boost so i am just going to buy a bolt and thread close the opening into the head and IM. PCV there are 2 intersection and i think one comes from the BPT valve, so block one and vent the other.
Bpt gone just block the lines. i will post pics asap, as soon as i get my vaccum lines in and the car starts.
well that's all for now. IF anyone can respond to the question i made at the general on the sticky about ca20 mani will help me a lot.

yeah guys the im is in everything is bolted down just some vacum hoses that i am not too sure off and no one has answered to my questions on general tech. I will try to get some pic but i got no digi cam yet so if mr.200 has one and wants to come i can go pick him up come and take a look at my car take some pics and actually meet someone from this club.
the swap looks good, just the secondary shit is keeping me from having it on the road

yeah the project is officially done
he car should be on the road by tomorrow or tuesday the latest. Wasn't really hard just little complications during the road that make it kinda bitchy to swap. It's not a plug and play swap to say the least, coolant lines are different, but nothing is impossibe with a hammer and some swaering. I will get insurance tomorrow and after tomorrow drive to a friend to get some pics with his digi cam.
the process took a long time because head was redone, gaskets for both EM, IIM were changed, had to find a ca20 IM, study the vac lines, change the oil pan gasket, new water pump and deciding wether is smart to IC the t2 or no, i decided not too for now.
if someone has msn and wants to give me their email i can send the pics so they can post them as i don't think i can do it.
PM me please
thanks guys

if you're not putting in an ic, why'd you change to the NA mani? was your old one broken?
no it wasn't i just wanted to see if it was doable and it is if you willing to go through some bitchin
make sure you get the ca20et fuel rail or else you would be screwed like i was, and make sure you know what hose you are plugging. I am still in the process of putting together the vac hoses just so i know and label everything and then ill swap it back to stock mani until i get a t25 or larger turbo.
the stock one won't have enough and lag will kill

a just for fun project, huh? icon_biggrin.gif yo might want to leave it in if you're planning on an ic (depends on the ic).
what do you mean the stock one won't have enough and the lag will kill?
well the IC i have is way tooo big for the little t2
i want the car now out so i can practise drifting the LS is takin the beating now
but they are quite easy to change about 2 hours if you know what you are doing.
and on this i know what i am doing so it's all cool.

sorry i have no digi cam so i couldn't take any photos at all, but i do know where everything goes and i would be happy to write a step by step where everything goes.

first thing is first.
1)possibly the head out of the block for easier installation.
2) clean it good inside out as they tend to form a lot of grease specially on the EGR reservuar. The little bulge sticking out.
3) take the cooling inlet from the block, it will have to be hit a couple of time with a hammer to make the angle wider, and then reposition it at a different angle(tilt it 30degrees counter clock wise.)
4) put on the the gasket and torque the IM(ca20) to the head it's i think 21lb/ft of turque, use glue to stick it down, you will have it on your books if not i will double check, the rate you should bolt it down(start from center move towards the sides.
putting the head back to the block(tdc) the valves on c#1 are closed, place carefully the head(a good time to rebuld it/port and polish it), head gasket OEM does not require glue but it's your call.
before doing that, decide wether you want emmisions or not and vent the PCV and close the whole where it enters into the IM(the found on the botton and has a screw type cose connector(as in pic)
the other on is for coolant that goes to the heater unit in your dash and is connected to those 2 hoses that go into the dash.
MUST DO: get the fuel rail of a ca20e and swap the injectors(mistake i did on mine) and eneded up butchering my fuel rail.
the wiring harness will have to be opened(the wires can move since some postions are different.
the hoses go the same where the pic(very usefull ilustrated)
it's a good thing to have the starter and oil filter out so you can work easier on the car for those hard to reach hoses.
ANY other questions please ask away and i will try to help as much as i can.
Lates, happy new year guys
Bes

I just finished installing my own... royal PITA...
What is the BPT valve? I'm a little confused...
Anyway... I got most of it connected... but I'm not sure if its 100% right... plus I tried swapping MAF sensors, and it wouldn't idle with the MAF connected... I'm still trying to figure things out. I'll try and post photos tonight.
