I recently acquired a 86 200sx turbo with 130,000 miles for $400 in Mississippi. The dealer did not know what he had and i was able to talk him down on the price. I changed the timing belt on it along with all the radiator hoses and spark plugs/wires/dist/rotor. New tires were also added. I also had to replace all the exhaust manifold gaskets/turbo gaskets etc. I have been driving it for about 3 weeks and love it more than my sr20det swapped 240. A few days ago i noticed the oil was getting low on it so i have been checking it daily and i also noticed white smoke coming from the tail pipe under heavy boost (well 7 psi is not really heavy boost) I am thinking that the oil seals on the turbo are shot. I am thinking of using a spare t25 i have while i have the t2 rebuilt. I have read all the posts about how the t25 fits but what , if anything do you have to do to get it to fit? Anyway back to my main reason for posting. A set of keys was not included with the car and i drilled out the ignition lock tumbler and i have been using a standard nissan key to start it. I have noticed a relation between the position of the ignition switch and the dash being lit.( it has the digital unit) sometimes if the dash is not lit or it starts going out i can fiddle with the ignition (basically i can turn the key almost until the starter kicks on and there is a relay that clicks and then if you do it enough the dash will come on. I am wondering if my dash woes are due to me not having the ignition tumber to hold the ignition switch in just the right position or if the relay is going out. i have taken the dash out and cleaned/checked the connections on the dash unit itself and they all looked fine. another thing i have noticed on this board is the discussions on blow off valves. I have a non-recuirculating bov on my sr20det'd 240 (which uses a maf just like the 200sx) and i have no problems with it, and as an added bonus whenever i shift it shoots flames out the tail pipe!
any help/questions/comments would be appreciated!!!!
My First Post
ya sounds like the turbo... but first do a compression test to make sure its not the rings.. and if its not then use the t25 cause the t2 really isnt worth using if you have a spare t25....as far as the ignition buy a aftermarket one or even a nissan unit with its own keys.....

I know the t25 is a better turbo for the car but is it a direct bolt on replacement? ie will i need to cut the hotpipe to make it fit and what about the oil/coolant lines? I can't have this car down for longer than a weekend because it is my new daily driver work car. as far as the ignition my local dealer wants like $270 for the ignition and all new locks for the car.
whats the t25 from....and if you have some pics of it that would help..

it's a stock t25 from an sr20det
the turbine flange has a square rectangle face with 4 holes not sruds right... and if so then very little work would be needed to get it in

the coolant lines should line right up wih the t25. you might be able to reuse the oil line from the t2, not sure. zman had to grind a bit of his bell housing to get his t25 in as well. but the flange patterns and downpipe should all fit.
thanks for the replys
