My brother has probably totaled his nice '86 Turbo Z. Nothing really major in the book of accidents, but based on the age of the car, and the level of damage (hood, bumper, fender, substructure, etc) they'll probably total it (or so he thinks). Well his whole suspension is upgraded and I'd considered trying to swap it all over... Tokico Shocks, Eibach Springs, Koni Sways, 5 lug wheels & brakes, 16" rims, brand new tires... Just curious if this should actually work.
Thanks!

Will an '86 Turbo Z Suspension/Hubs/Brakes fit my '84 Turbo?
I know that the shocks are differant for sure....I've heard of guys using the springs (I think) but theay are also differant. As far as the hubs go I don't think so. It's differant from the SE stuff. If you could get your hands on a totaled SE and grab the hubs that would work then you could use the wheels and tires.
oh........btw........grab the engine and a torch, hacksaw, sawsall....whatever you need to get that vg30et in your car!!!!....(LOL)

Other people have tried different suspension combinations and have learned some hard lessons. The rear suspension of the 200SX is exactly the same as the rear suspension of the 300ZX (except for how the differential mounts), so all that stuff will swap directly over. The front end is completely different however, and strangely resembles a 280ZX front suspension in a lot of ways. So nothing in the front end will swap with the 300ZX at all. It would require a lot of metal fabrication to make it work.

just swap the hubs abd brakes and try to see if the shocks wiill fit which they should and it wouldnt hurt to try the springs just for the hellof it. i wouldnt be surprised if it all worked...like dan said we share the same suspension

*Rear springs will fit but the fronts will NOT
*Rear shocks should fit w/ some work but fronts won't
*All hubs, rotors, and calipers will swap
*Rear sway bar along w/ other rear suspension piece will
*Front sway bar may (never been tryed???)
*Front control arms and strut rods should swap over
*The rims, if stock, have a 20mm offset. They will fit but stick out a ways past the fender.
You might want to see about holding on to the gearbox, driveshaft, and rear diff for some one w/ a VG who might want to try and swap them.
